It came to my attention recently, as an avid character trader, that the number of super-cap (in particular Nyx) pilots being sold since a few months ago has sky-rocketed. From my limited knowledge of CCP's stance on supercaps this lead me, initially, to believe that it was simply a huge growth market being filled. Early on there were a large number of active buyers and the Nyx premium was second only to the tegu in terms of reliable mark-up. In recent weeks, however; and espcially since some of the more recent CSM meetings, there has been a marked stall in demand for these characters.
When I cross-checked my bazaar data with that of the actual SC sales I could account for (admittedly, probably a fraction of the actual market given many SCs are produced in-corp and traded off the boards) no such saturation. SC's themselves were still selling strongly and indeed it seemed as though with the gear-up of more pilots to handle the growing DRF threat, there should be more room to grow. It was at this point I had to conclude that either a CSM member had in-fact leaked some information regarding an upcoming supercap nerf. It did occur to me that the simple mention of an SC nerf by CCP could have been enough to cause this drop, but that information had been widely avalible during one of the larges growth months in Nyx and Nyx pilot sales earlier this year.
So, I leave you with all I have gathered and ask you to form your own opinions. For the record, I am not selling any SC pilots at this point and have no vested interest in their fall or rebound.

More people can fly a Nyx than all other SC combined by several times.
It's called probability. If 100 people can fly a SC and 80 of them can fly a Nyx then more people will have Nyx SC pilots for sale.
Thanks for the tinfoil.

This would be relevant information if anyone was still actually playing the game and/or giving a ****.

no breach of NDA.
it's more like the rats leaving the sinking ship before even the rest of the guys noticed that is, in fact, sinking.
in other words, people know supercaps will be "rebalanced" and the early birds are trying to offload their nyx alts now before any announcement is made that will decrease their value. ---

People know there's a nerf inbound, many are jumping before it hits.

I would be inclined to believe that is the case, but the proximity of all this occuring to the most recent CSM meets has me wondering. It is also a curious thing to note that players in CSM member alliances have been some of the first to offload and quicket to sell...

Then petition and they will get banned.

Why petition anything if it is, as you insist, coincidental?

You seem to think it's some sort of inside knowledge.
I was stating facts. Just check out SC BPO sales. Nyxes outsell all the others by several times. That would indicate that there are many many more Nyx pilots than other SC pilots. If you believer that the CSM corps/alliances are selling their SC pilots due to an incoming nerf then petition. They will be removed from the CSM and the characters banned for "insider knowledge"
edit: if it is true

Go with the statement of probability. Nyx's have the highest dps of any cap, especially if you have gallente carrier 5.
No combine this with the fact, that everyone at ccp and players recognize that they are op, so we all know a nerf is incoming, but as the scale who knows.
But most likely people are trying to offload alts.

^^ This. A supercarrier nerf is long incoming already. Tinfoil hats can be taken off now. :)

There was also a move by a few 'bitter vets' who were quitting the game to offload all of their assets and to give those assets to the few that stayed.
That's what I would attribute the situation to since that's what the stated trend on some of the external EVE 'fan' sites.

I wonder why the Nyx is so popular, the Aeon would be a much better choice for fleet Supercarriers. They have nearly double the Tank at a loss of only 25% DPS.

In reality, dps is king in those fights. No super fleets stand toe to toe screaming "I tanked the **** outta him", its all " I ganked the **** outta him"
My guess for the sale of the super alts is people leaving. I was considering selling a fully skilled nyx alt but you made me reconsider :P I'll just let it sit dormant.

The expectation is for super carriers to be nerfed so many are upgrading to titan which probably will still be relatively powerful since it costs ~4x as much.

This is pure hurf bluf and speculation. I've sold at least two of the Nyx alts you're talking about and actually profited on the flip both times. It is entirely to do with the "omg CCP I quit," scandal and nothing else. Bitter vets let their SC alts go at rock bottom prices a little ways back and now everyone and their dog is re-listing them. No toinfoil required.

But super cap battles are not slug fests, they are get in, kill everything and get out asap, prolonged time on the battlefield means more likely to die.

Could tell from their corp history surely?
It's probably a lot of ex-NC super-capital alts being sold? That was an immense number of pilots evicted from the null-sec game, a large percentage of them probably taking it as an opportunity to move on from Eve. Might as well get some $, especially before a possible nerf drives prices down.
Besides... the demand for the same has probably dropped. The new north + DRF probably have close to enough (might even be selling some excess) and the remaining blocks don't have that sort of money.

Nyx is popular because supercarriers are mostly used for hit and run ganks as sad as it sounds. For that use it is easily the best one.

Nyx alts are the most popular. There is no breaching of NDA, just common sense/probability. People offloading not only the characters, but the ships also. People buying more Nyx alts to park the "nerfed" ships before the supposed "nerf" hits.
Apart from that, character prices have absolutley plummeted with all the recent drama people are leaving/cutting down on accounts, just look for a 100+m skill point character and have a quick look at the prices, ridiculously cheap.

Sellers believe that nerf will be severe enough to devalue their investments and buyers are betting that it won't be "that bad". That the Nyx is most common is as already said because more people fly them due to popularity of the Thanatos, just like you have more Obelisks floating around from all the Iteron 5 training.
Reason why it is happening now is that CCP has announced that they'll release a blog with on-the-table changes for null, which will probably include mention of SCs. Historically market prices spike/tank hard just prior to such blogs as people in the know attempt to make a quick buck on the ignorant.
