So we have the K162s leading to Wormspace which tend to be useless to everyone but the people living in the K162 hole.
Has anyone found a truly useless wormhole? I did today.
I was scanning my home system in Lowsec to see what the signatures around were like and to see if someone was forcing in on my market where I just found wormholes and checked them out. One was a dying K162 to Wormspace so that was an automatic no entry and the other was a wormhole leading to lowsec. Neat.
I enter the wormhole and noticed that no one was in local. That was a good sign until I looked at the Constellation
And then the system.
I realized that the wormhole had taken me a total of one jump from where I was, leading my home system in a very strange situation where it literally had 2 gates to a system and back. Anyone else find a useless wormhole as such? -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

It's entirely possible. It'd probably even be possible to have one going from your system back to your system. The thing is that the odds of you getting one to the next door system are something like 1-4 (depending on your neighboring systems) in 7500. So, yeah, it happens now and then, random is random.

Considering the number of wormhole signatures I find in relation to everything else, I'd say this happens about 180,000 times each day.

Oh, this hole I found doesn't lead to wormhole space.
It's a direct hole to a system that I could just use the jump gate for and get their faster.
In a strange twist of irony, we had assets in the system that were under attack so the Useless wormhole actually became useful to bypass possible gate camps and intel. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

it would be alot more funny if your wormhole was leading from your system (one signature) to your system (second signature K162 you found)

Once when I was living in a C2, we had a K162 from some hisec system. Then we opened our static hisec exit B274 to find that it went to that same hisec system. Tried to figure out if we could use that to our advantage for pvp (trickery with local or something?), but nothing came to mind. So it was useless.

That's not useless... You could have whole myriad of tactics with ambushes deceptions and other things with two effective jump gates from one system to the other, with one jump gate hidden (wh) and other public.
And as you mentioned it served a purpose to you...
I think most useless wh's are c1's with only one hs static... -------------------------------------------------

Not entirely...
A rookie Wormholer corp could move in to test the waters of living the wormhole life before moving on up to a more advanced hole. -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Not realy. C1 are great for reaction POS, Research POS, etc. A large Tower is nearly indestructable in there. And a C1 with HS Static is one of the best. You can haul Ice products and Materials in and out with realy low threat. Just one Scout needed at wh side.

Once a friend of mine had a mission that spawned on top of a wormhole. It was very strange. In the middle of his mission an Orca popped out.

The very first day of Apocropha, when we first had WH's, the first WH found by Eve University was high sec to high sec, 3 jumps away. I found the second and we went in, used up all its mass going back and forth, and then when I left it collapsed and I stranded 2 EU directors on the other side.
