If I were wanting to solo suicide gank haulers and hulks..
How much ehp should I be looking to have? dps?
Obviously more the better, but if I could a numeric range that would be great. Thanks.

dont matter if you have 1000 ehp or 100,000 ehp on suicide ganks because when comcord comes and gets a lock on you, your cap disapears and you get jammed and popped. and how much dps is needed depends on the ship, i think volley damage is more important. minmatar bs is good at this.

There's no such thing as 'solo' suicide ganking... You'll need an alt to empty the victims' wrecks.
Watch out for me as I'll steal the stuff from your victims before your alt gets there
And I'm really good at it too.

You're an idiot. People don't always suicide gank for carebear loot. In fact, I would consider it a waste of my time. I suicide gank mining barges because I feel anyone who pays $15 to watch your ship mine space rocks has a mental issue and deserves a good ****king with.
I love when people like you claim victory in local when grabbing some five million isk in loot from a barge I just popped. I couldn't possibly care less, and I feel many of the suicide ganking pirate community agrees with me. Enjoy your slow stream of income and boring gameplay!

Indeed. I loot the wrecks to help keep the ganks flowing but it's not the reason I do it. Any loot is more of a bonus. The primary goal is the destruction of a botter or someone who really doesn't understand what the purpose of a game is. As for the original question, my experience is a gank cane with t2 gyro's, t2 425mm AC's and HAM's should be considered the minimum against a hulk. If you have a partner in crime then a pair of t1 fit thoraxes works. You want to be putting out around 1000 dps overloaded, obviously more is better. Alternatively an arty apoc works pretty well. It puts out the same damage in 1 volley that the aforementioned cane puts out in 5-6s (concord/navy response time). But that route is more expensive from just the hull, nevermind the mods. It works better if you're lagging though. The gank canes need every last second.

I'll use a crane alt for warp-ins so I might as well scoop the loot. As a bonus, if they aggress me after looting I can come back in a BC and raep more faces.

Mh you are aware that you can be banned for that? Not profiting from a suicide gank is considered grief play. A ban can be issued at CCPs discretion. Your remark that you always do it for the lolz is not making it better.
: "A grief player, or "griefer," is a player who devotes much of his time to making othersÆ lives miserable, in a large part deriving his enjoyment of the game from these activities while he does not profit from it in any way.[...] At our discretion, players who are found to be consistently maliciously interfering with the game experience for others may receive a warning, temporary suspension or permanent banning of his account. "
Better start looting that barges again... if you hadn't said anything noone would have noticed that it wasn't your alt looting that wreck ^^ It might online apply if you keep doing it to the same person over and over but still ^^
Just saying ;-)
edit: I know I will get trolled for this

alt posting :)
My normal suicide gank ship is an armageddon with 7x1400mm arty,1 TP, 3 tracking thingies and 4 gyros+ faction ammo.. Have yet to find a T1 industrial or hulk/mack that can survive the 1 volley I can get off before concord gets me.
And armageddons are dead-cheap.. Like 45-50 million a piece

I feel the same way about griefers who blow up miners for 'fun'.
I realise a good portion of the EVE community is juvenile and repulsive, but I wonder if there is not a mental health issue here too?
Ganking a ****wit miner who has personally ****ed you off? Well that's another matter entirely.

1. Stealing free **** from pirates is never boring. It pays more ISK/hr than missions. And I love the free crap. 2. I pay for my accounts with ISK. I've lots of it. Most of it made from BPC's sold from the many BPO's I've stolen from wrecks. 3. Enjoy your ban for grief admission. Idiot

6-8 Thrashers should be enough to alpha most hulks. Though that is not "solo" ganking. Get some mates, fit about 8 thrashers. You'll lose what, 9 mil? But you destroy quite a bit more. :)

Nope, doubt he have to worry about it. Even if he doesn't profit from it, it doesn't sound like he is specifically targets 1 person or corp and constantly harasses them. He is just doing it for fun at his own isk expense, so it is all good.
After all this game isn't WoW, Everquest, etc where the GM's will reimburse people from stupid scams and other things. This is eve online, its full of sick sadistic bastards who like to cheat, lie, scam, kill their fellow players. So this is just another day.

It's cute how you somehow think that your style of gameplay differs from that of miners, internet tough guy. If there's anything worse in eve than people who do nothing but high sec mine it's these wannabe griefers who get the idea that their style of gameplay sets them apart from that of other players.
Op, suicide ganking specific ships is a waste of time. You should just stick to smarbombing at busy gates as podding people with juicy implants is so much more satisfying than picking off random mining barges.

To be correct Lady Spank, he stated that his crusade is against people who pay $15 a month to watch Ninjaholic's ship mine space rocks. I can't imagine he finds many targets, as I am sure there are very few players who dedicate their eve career to keeping an eye on Ninjaholic as he pewpews some roids... But whatever flicks his switch.

When I started this game, I got suicide ganked by people who did it just because they could. Which also tought me a lesson. That in EVE you can gank people if you feel like doing it, without a reason.
I've shouldered my responsibility, and occationally I go gank a random (preferably young) person, for no reason whatsover, at whatever location. Each time I do it I feel like a little bit better person. |

To actually give OP some relevant information:
I've found that against your average Hulk an EFT DPS 0f more than 850 will reliably kill them in 0.5 and 0.6 space. Against a totally untanked Hulk with a low SP pilot, you can actually kill them in 0.8 space solo. To do this I use a Brutix with overheated Limited Neutron Blasters, and the 5% hybrid damage and 3% all-turret damage hardwirings. Total loss to me after insurance is around 7 mil. If you've got an alt for lootz grabbing you could nearly break even if they have some T2 stuff equipped.
The other way to go about it is to alpha the Hulk with a Tempest, which I've never tried. You can either try to alpha it with 1400mm artillery or rip it apart with 800mm autocannons. The autocannons have similar range to the blasters in the Brutix fit, but have a greater effective DPS because you can use EMP rounds, which a Hulk has the lowest native resists to and probably won't be fitting for outside of Sansha/BR space. You'd think they'd all try to boost their resists as high as they could given the notoriety of the suicide gank threat, but alas this isn't true in my experience.

Lol I never claimed to be an "Internet tough guy". I said that people who spend $15 and are involved in nothing but mining have mental issues and deserved to be ****ed with. My old roommate played Eve a few years back and all he wanted to do was train for mining barges and join mining corps... That's some odd ****t.
Oh and PVP, acts of piracy, and suicide ganking are far superior gameplay activities to mining.

As someone who has ganked many hulks with a Tempest, I'll add to that:
Go with 1400's instead of AC. In the time you get before CONCORD alpha from 1400s is always going to be higher than total DPS.
Your fit should be something like:
6x cheap named 1400 2x cheap named heavy or cruise missile launchers 1x Target painter Split your other mids between scripted sensor boosters and Tracking computers 4x cheap named gyros The rest tracking enhancers or whatever.
Use high-damage ammo, I prefer Republic Fleet Fusion; 1 round per gun. You will not get a second volley. EXP tends to be the least-tanked-for in most regions due to the damage composition of belt rats, but truthfully it doesn't matter. Alhpa from a Tempest is far beyond the EHP of all but the most heavily tanked/bonused Hulks.
Put your guns, missles, and painter into the top row of buttons. Group them. Overload the rack before you warp to the belt. Hit all your F keys while in warp so they're hot and hit your target immediately on arrival. Hesitation lets them get away.
The missile launchers are in case you need a little extra for the final blow. Add sentry drones if you know your target is really serious about not getting ganked, but be aware they take about 4 seconds to open fire. If CONCORD happens before that, they won't help.
In most asteroid belts you can warp to 0 on the belt and be at or near optimal on any miner present. The tracking computers will help you reach out and touch further targets. In an ice belt you will probably need a buddy giving you the warp-in on your intended target.
If you're hunting in crowded systems, look for targets with yellow sec status. You take a lower sec hit for ganking against them, which means you get more kills before you have to go grind again.
Loot from the target probably isn't that good, take it with you but don't forget to retrieve everything from your wreck also. It can go on your next Tempest.
I haven't actually tried it yet, but the possibility exists that one Tempest with 1400s, cruise missiles, and sentries can pop two poorly/tanked mackinaws at once if you group the weapons right.
Enjoy.
