After watching the trailer of the Moros blasting some poor sap on the planet to smithereens, I immediately thought of stealth bombers. Sure, anyone can see a Dreadnought slowboat to an orbital bombardment position but with a stealth bomber you could tear out a 15 kilometer radius chunk of battlefield with little to no warning! With current physics its already possible to enter the atmosphere of the planet model. I think this will add an exceptional gameplay experience to DUST console players during a match, as a mischievous capsuleer could blow everything to oblivion at any time

Cannot be used in human habitats due to its instability at atmospheric temperatures.

EVE trailers have as much to do with future game play as a walrus has to do with the color of my socks.

Instability =/= instant decay. Plus, there are things called alloys, there's no such thing as ship, fully made out of tritanium. There's was a Mega flying about 500m above the ground in 1st DUST trailer, and I'm pretty sure that armors and vehicles for Dusties will be made from tritanium like any other equipment.
On topic: I doubt that frigate-class ships have the ability to leave/enter planet atmosphere by themself. Not quite sure though.

Do you really think that CCP is going to have game mechanics that allow Eve ships to just sit around and nuke the planet? Keep on smokin'

Edited by: Eliza Capri on 12/07/2011 07:34:50 How about this:
You can launch bombs specially designed to be used in an orbital strike. To launch an orbital bomb, your SB gets a movement penalty of 180 seconds where its engines are mainly used to calibrate a launch trajectory. In other words, you can't move. On top of that, you get another 180 seconds cloaking penalty.
However, after launching a bomb planetary rail guns will be able to lock onto the position of launch. Perhaps a skill that lets you reduce the chance of getting locked successfully?
So, as you wait out your timer to launch you're pretty much a sitting duck against other pilots. And as you wait out your cloak timer you're a sitting duck for both eve pilots and dust players. Making it pretty much a suicide. But the cost of an SB+bomb isn't that big a sacrifice when given the chance to throw nukes at a planet full of console players.

Since when a fair fight is an option? No one would in their right minds use that feature unless they have enough SB's to actually destroy every single square meter of the surface of the planet so no retaliation is possible.

So Eve players are cowards now? Since when were SB instant win buttons anyway?

I'll contact you in-game with a location in null/low where you can park your ship with only 1 gun fitted and we'll come to shoot it. Once we destroy it, you'll bring out a 2nd one and so forth until you run out of money.
Or would you prefer a situation where you can actually win?

yep. Mobile command centre "Cestus". In the first trailer, I thought it was a mega too.
