It won't be long now before the two communities of Dust and EVE meet in a great inauguration, and do Dust players have a huge surprise waiting for them!
Massive parties are planned New Eden-wide where such fabulous gifts as Dust Bins, Dust Mops and Dust Covers will be on hand to distribute to the newcomers. The Dust Covers are said to be fashioned after the Hyper-Berka sported by the Women Of The Afghan Taliban! However, rather than a screen-covered peephole, they'll be provided with a sporty monocle to peep through.
Many games are planned as well with a memorial Flip My Can Recreational Hour slated for noon each day during the duration of the festivities. Seminars on What That Contract REALLY Means will be held by volunteers of the EVE Yaaarrr Society, along with Decorating Tips for the Groovy Domicile (a do-it-yourself clinic), provided by Carebears Intergalactical.
Many in the gaming world are asking just how these new members of New Eden will be greeted as they swoop in riding on their consoles. According to one capsuleer, "Our welcome will certainly show these newcomers just how welcoming the EVE Community can be. We'll be putting our best foot forward."
Though it's always hard to divine the future, there is no doubt when the Dust players arrive, they'll be safe in the hands of the always sympathetic EVE Community whose true appreciation of them will certainly be shown.
Pictures at eleven.

What's funny about this is, their rabidly awaiting customers aren't sure...is this THE buy-in fee and a bonus of in-game credits, OR is this an add-on TO the buy-in fee, essentially doubling what they were originally told the game would "cost"?
What's funnier is, this confusion is obvious in the copious responses to the news, and NO CCP clarification or reassurances are in sight. One CCP rep who will remain nameless used the ink to slaver over how understanding Sony is and how...they (CCP) are using the console thing as accoutrement...a convenient inconvenience, so to speak.
It doesn't take a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Yes, nice article on the Escapist, lots of even "better" press for DUST, as well as on various other media websites.
The person in charge of DUST communication should be immediately fired. Unless its the same incompetent t.w.a.t. in charge of Incarna communication, then he must be fired. Upon

Dust is going to fail so hard it will make your head spin.
EVE will be left with a bunch of functionality dead ends that make FW seem like a dream.
All of this "de-coupling" fallback plan will die in a fire of groupthink.
The few exclusive planet items that make it into the EVE universe are going to be the new T2 BPO's.

My prediction is DUST players will be EVE players who sank $600 into a PS3 and a HD TV just so their alliance wouldn't lose its planets.
Alliance Leader: Okay, we all spent $19 on a mic from Wal-Mart this isn't any different. I see you on EVE and not on DUST and YOU.ARE.OUT!

Born from the hellscape of the sony playstation network and craven rot infested ccp management/investor class linking the better than anything else damn spaceship game and mashing that together with children of parents who have more money than love, or time for said children.

To welcome them properly I need to have the power to nuke the site from orbit. It was promised that would be possible, but the same company said it would not do microtransactions so they went macrotransactions.
Thus I'm not holding my breath.

Floppy disks you say? try cassette tapes ala c64 and vic 20, that's when load times really mattered (complete with squiggly borders and screeching data sounds of course)
I thought the welcome for Dust players consisted of radioactive materials fired from orbit, because it's the only way to be sure. --------------------------------------------- CCP just shat in the sandbox, so they could try and sell us a gold plated shovel to remove said turd. :( |

In preparation for Dust, all ships need to refrain from emptying their "facilities" prior to release. Then these ships need to converge around the planets with the greatest number of Dust-bunnies, drop into low orbit and "empty the bilges".
We may not be able to nuke them from orbit, but we can still hit them with a ton of Icy BMs.

Within seconds all life stands still, water evaporates from oceans, sand starts to flow as liquid glass and soon enough there isn't even anyone left to beg you to stop".
I surely do hope that the above quote, taken form a SW comic, will apply to the orbital bombardments we will be able to perform.
I will gladly provide the firepower with my dreadnaughts to silance any and all of the pitiful little mortals on the planetary surface.

Let's not forget endless fiddling with the datastream volume control on your cassette tape player so your "computer" could hear it... the sweetspot between distortion and "eh sonny? what was that?" ______________________________

I'm looking forward to the arrival of dust. And I don't expect anything less than the whole eve universe working against my little dust bunny. Even if it fails big time, at least it unites the eve players for a few days/weeks. At least it does unite the forum trolls, and we all know that's all that matters. If it, in fact, turn out to be a good shooter for consoles, I'm ok with that. And knowing the typical teenager audience of said shooters, I highly doubt that more than a handfull of those brats will stay with dust, leaving a hopefully more mature audience behind, and maybe even a few good matches can be fought over resources nobody cares about anyway, hehe. And if I can get one shot back at the endless numbers of ships bombarding me from orbit, I'll be one happy bunny, that's for sure. If it fails, I'll just hop back into the slimy ooze of my capsule and continue to look at "the door". I'm willing to give it a chance.
