Ok - I first signed on years ago. You , at that time had a classic client, which worked wonderfully with my vid-card/MB. In fact I was astounded by the game's beauty (2008). I left for a long time and was given a free 5 day extension - which I enjoyed (mostly - I'll get to my "issues"). So, I bought the "recruitment" 60 day extension.
Unfortunately, My experience has gone like this:
The "classic client," which worked so well - is just...GONE. No words, no stories, just unsurreptitiously gone. So I am forced FORCED to DL the "professional" client, which you say, outright, won't work for everyone (like me). So all of my ships hav constant, horrendous buggy appearances. Not fun. I have upgraded my Direct X and my Drivers. Your "pro" client doesn't work with my machine. Funny to have a game that works one minute and then gets broken by the manufacturer who says that they want my business back. Funny way to show it.
Downtime - Day 1 - Spent Downloading the "pro" client. The install corrupted - had to do it manual - pain-in-the-ass/ OUT one whole day of free trial.
Day 2 - Still trying to find the "classic" client. Hmmm No info - why are my graphics bugged? This kinda sucks.
Day 3 - I find a ship in-game that doesn"t show up too buggy - and I have fun! The game system is great! Too bad I can't get it to look right. Met some friends joined a corp - blew stuff up.
Day 4 - CCP Update - down for the day...WTF?! Tell me why I jumped at the "deal" for 60 days?
This is the constant pattern of play. 60% of the time when it is convenient for me to play - CCP is updating or fixing. Not cool.
I would say - that out of the 60 days that I bought - CCP has shut down on as many as 30% of that time - And I expect no recompense from CCP.
So - July 21 - I will move on and uninstall. It's too bad - The game has many elements that I truly enjoy. I'm just not getting to enjoy them.
Thought you should know. JS

Are you complaining that an MMO that you played 3 years ago changed?
Your computer is at most from 2008 I see and the classic client worked with computers from the late 90s so obviously something would change.
You started replaying around a patch where a lot of patches are released. ------------------------------------- The system issues man. |

The classic client as you call it was only really a stop gap allowing people who needed to upgrade theior machines and was retried a few years back.
You decided not look up the new system requirements because you thought eve would not have moved on in the last three years. If only the devs decided not to upgrade the game. It would save them so much time. Online games move on they have to to keep old customers and get new ones a great example is rf online. Some private servers still exist but it looks very dated now.
As with all upgrades to a game like EVE there will be bugs. The devs are human they make mistakes and make bugs but that's life. CCP are fixing the bugs making the game better so there will be down times its the patch month. Personally I have lived though worst patches than this like the cold war upgrade. Like fly in soup of lag. In jita it took 1h 30mins to dock. Now that was a bad upgrade.
God forgive that ccp updated the game when you where going to play. This must be stopped and a time of you choosing be chosen. Let me tell you something the world doesn't rotate on your whims. CCP update the game when they want to. If you don't like it make your own eve or buy ccp. CCP are giving you a free upgrades unlike others and you want time back from them tiring to fix issues. Well you can have a day back if ccp can charge you for the updates like other online games think it ú30 a time. So for the latest game upgrade and two patches you need to pay ú90. So lets let ccp have their down times and you can see want out doors feels like for half an hour.
A little bit of growing up and maybe giving CCP some room to sort out the few bugs that came in to the game. Give the game a go once the new patch is out or waiting a few months and giving the game go then. The trial is free.

WOW~
Well then - Thanks for the help and support.
So glad I gave another chance to this caring, supportive MMO group (insert dry sarcasm).
I was hoping for a work-around or a solution to keep me playing. Instead, I get trolled.Same old Eve...
Nice work CCP. You did it- you suckered me back. Oh well. Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me twice , shame on me. Caveat Emptor - Let the sucker beware.
Go and blow me up until the 21st...I'll be sure to tell all of my friends.

Welcome to Eve forums. Nobody here really cares about your graphics problems, but they care about telling you that you are: a) wrong, b) a complete idiot, c) you should spend a huge amount of money getting a computer that sounds like a vacuum cleaner in order to play eve at all.
I'm pretty sure I can blame one dead top of the line laptop to running Eve (insert obligatory comment from annoying forum trolls here about: Its a laptop, you brought it on yourself or its your hardwares fault or you are an idiot).
All in all, Eve is now all about pretty graphics (monocles!) and shiny stuff instead of game play. YAY! (for the trolls: My YAY was sarcastic, ok?).

LOL - I guess that'll show ME what I get for trying to give feedback about the game. Won't make that mistake ever again.

NP I'm glad you found that supportive as for caring well I'm not being paid so you get what you get. Also EVE is not hello Kittie online so not everything we say is going to be done in a fluffy nice way.
The solution to the problem is fairly easy to work out set all the graphics to low. Your machine is old its not going to keep up with modern games. If you want better graphics a new card maybe to order of the day for ú50 you could go to the cheap end of a NVIDIA 400 model range. Would it not have been a good idea to start saving for a new PC when you got the last one so when that machine is a piece of crap you could replace it?
CCP update the game and downtime when they want if you got lots of money buy CCP and change the time or put up with them like everyone else.
Those are you solutions.
Also I don't want to pod you or blow up your ship no need to hunt you down not worth my time.
