I have been playing Eve for one month and about 5 days now I think.
I haven't actually been able to play about 50% of that time.
The other day I made a comment in a thread about how I probably wont be subbing for the long term because of how shoddy their servers are. Are was jumped on by many a Eve fan boy.
Please tell me, how can you still defend this insult of a games company? I have counted a total of FOURTEEN septate unscheduled down time. Some are only 5 minutes, some have been for 24 hours.
No matter how much time you have spent on this game, you are a fool to keep paying a company like this your money. This is no argument to be had. It's a shocking insult to what seems to be a loyal fan base and I pity each of you that are too addicted to stop paying for their, and all their alt accounts.
This game is poorly designed for new people, and hardly does anything to make me want to keep playing. I am a sci-fi and MMO fanatic, I wish I could love Eve. The core members maybe loyal, but new people like me will never stick around for such a shoddy run game.

Its been a bit more frequent... I can say that a year ago this time, I would have told you that the servers never go down and are reliable.
I'm sure they will figure out the current issues... Eventually.

5 minute downtimes do not exist, its your internet connection or route to the server 24 hour downtimes do not exist, see above.
perhaps you should cancel your subscription to the internet

seriously they are not normally that bad, and either you try to play all the time at scheduled downtime or you have the worst luck ever

Oh sure, this game has been able to run since 2003 with server crashes daily. Yup, the crashes just keep em coming. This is the norm.

I would like to point to said fanboys, still trying to belittle anyone who says a bad word about their game.
Face it, you're so addicted your willing to deny blatant facts.
If this was your ISP that was going down, you wouldn't think twice about moving. But because you are addicted, you'd rather give you money to a company that does't deserve it. It's sad to see what control CCP have over you. I feel sorry for a lot of you.

You're utterly clueless. This is no argument to be had.
I've played MANY MMO's...I would say around 14-15 or so big ones. All pay to play, and Eve IS the one with the least downtime out of all of them.
I've had downtime TWICE in the last two months, once for Incarna and once was a 10 minute server crash. Oh no! A whole ten minutes!
Grow up you pathetic whiny child.
Thank god people like you won't be sticking around. The less of people like you the better, and being a month or so old as you are, no one gives a crap what you think, regardless if you're wrong or right, and you're wrong.

Unlike most MMO's, Tranquility is a rather complex creation and can be prone to breakdown like any other complex system (say, the human body). So yeah, get over it. ~Gnosis~ |

Please list the dates, times, and independent third party verification that the socket listener for the Tranquility server was not accepting connections during those periods.

Has it occured to you my dear chap that it is in fact YOUR connection which sucks the *******s of a donkey and not Eve? I have been playing for quite awhile and in the last month I can cite exactly two unscheduled downtimes, the one this last week late at night (Central US time) and this one. The first lasted perhaps 30-40 minutes, and no clue how long this one will last. But all in all not that terrible. Is it irritating to go to log in and find yourself denied? Yes. Does it make me wanna rage like a little girl who had her dolly stolen? Why no, no it doesn't.
Oh, and can I haz yer stuff?

Edited by: daddys helper on 15/07/2011 16:15:14 downtime is a constant the time it takes to reboot the servers is a constant sometimes it takes a little more
it is NEVER 5 minutes or 24 hours, its seldom more than 3-4 hrs and only when there's a huge deployment like con-carne, the average is about 1-2hrs
so either you are a troll (and a fail one at that), completely stupid or ignorant to the nuances of internet communications.
your downtimes are courtesy of your service provider, not CCP

Cause every company has their down times, and I don't mean server down times, I means those times when everything just doesn't seem to be working very well for them.
I recall these kinds of frequent server crashes before and they tend to fix them sooner or later. Probably what this SQL work today is related to.
I don't so much support CCP as a company, but more as a team. Not EVE so much as a game but more of a universe. The mechanics can be shot to hell and server crashing every 5 minutes but I'll still be here. CCP can throw what little professionalism they portray out the window but as people they're still pretty awesome.

about a month ago, I resubbed after almost a year(divorce) in that time, i've seen 1 scheduled that was waaaaaaay long(Barbie dolls patch) i've seen like 2 extendeds and 1 crash
in that same time, I was on almost every day for at least 2-3hrs(most days closer to 5-6) except the few days I was out of state for 'court bull****'(see divorce) in the same time, my ISP glitched 3 or 4 times, dropping me for 5-10 seconds... which means relogon, tho one of those may have been the fire dept hosing the wires... my neighbors house was on fire
