After reading the last paragraph on new website i dont really know what to think of...dont think it's a good direction to were it's heading but oh well.
Quote from mmorpg.com
What can players expect over the next few months with EVE?
"Expect the flying in space side to be a little more old-school. We need to get back to our roots if that makes sense. I think EVE has become a little soft, as strange as it sounds. ItÆs really easy to make money, itÆs pretty safe, itÆs become too much of a happy fairy land where everyone holds hands and eats lollipops than the dystopian universe itÆs supposed to be. There needs to be more opportunities for people to take massive risks and strike rich. IÆll tell you where it starts though; 0.0."
"So this winter, weÆre going to do two things. First of all, weÆre going to crank up ship balancing efforts. Continual balancing should be part of the EVE universe, it shouldnÆt be a special event that happens every year or two, it should be a constant process and thatÆs being kicked off. A ship, modules, everything under the sun needs a bit of a shakeup. CCP Tallest has taken the banner on this and is currently rebalancing super-caps. I think we need to give the power back to the masses, so expect to see an increased role for sub-caps. That EVE is real trailer? ThatÆs where we need to be."
"The second part is 0.0, where weÆll look at resources. Resource scarcity or exclusivity is something weÆve done really well when it comes to stuff like tech 3 and so on. In other areas, such as minerals, ice etc, weÆve not done so well. So IÆd like to take some of the broadly distributed stuff and kind of slim down the availability. Hopefully that will create more professions for people, and make content thatÆs currently underutilized interesting again. I think people generally need some sort of identity and letting people do everything at once detracts from that."
"I basically want to give some people a special set of shovels to build massive sandcastles, while at the same time giving another set of players reinforced steel boots that come with directions to stomp said sandcastles. Winter is going to be a ton of fun, whether you like creating, or just tearing everything down."

One thing, could you link your source? I can go to mmorpg as well, but sourcing your quotes with a link is good too.
Next, Somalia, ideal empire-building environment or impossible to do ANYTHING constructive environment? Too many castle-kickers vs not enough builders (read: is there an incentive to even try to build?) results in the old days where 50 million isk cruisers were the biggest ships you'd normally see, simply because the environment didn't allow for enough stability for real production or economies of scale to build up. Enjoy defending in a noob ship with 10k isk in your pocket, along with your 900k max sp clone because you couldn't possibly afford a better one now. Learning... |

Bold words. It's been a long time since CCP lived up to them.
When CCP proves it can move EVE back toward its roots, where the game is once again a place where choices have consequences and loss really hurts, then I'll be the first one to applaud. Until then, nothing that I have seen indicates CCP is anywhere near re-imagining 0.0 and making it into a dynamic place fraught with peril and opportunity.
The devs did a lot of similar talking in the months leading up to the release of Dominion. There were multiple dev blogs about how keenly aware they were of the importance of getting 0.0 "right" because it's such an integral part of the EVE Online experience. Sounds good, right? But in the end the devs seemed to forget all the basic principles that were talked about in those blogs, and instead what was delivered was a space version of capture the flag with some timers thrown in. Lame and broken doesn't begin to describe the missed opportunity that is Dominion.
Right now a large portion of 0.0 is a tedious, RMT-infested mess. When they fix it let me know.

IE more stations and supers. Exactly how is this ANY different from what's already there?

Remove content, reintroduce it but make the player pay for it FTFW.

what are you going to do about bots? Will you be satisfied to allow that crap to continue until every single Russian player in eve has their own bot pos complete with their own super, until they develop a station siege bot? The other day I was hotdropped by 2 wyverns and a nyx, thanatos, in 2 Vagabonds. Hotdropped in 2 Vagabonds. The Russians in question actually said "we don't have anything smaller available" Is this the steel toed boot you had in mind?

every day I find more and more reasons to leave this steaming heaping pile that had the POTENTIAL to be the greatest game ever. It really makes me sad as I really wanted to believe in you CCP, but it's over now. 16 days left and counting. Nobody can have my stuff.

the thing is now days when ccp dev's post stuff like that my mind always convert it into there grabbing more money.
were changing the game to make it harder to make isk. reads as we want more poeple buying plex's to sell to idiots that wanna buy monicals so we can make more per player than if we just added $5 to the montly sub

Good to know the lead game designer has finally noticed what anyone who actually plays the game could have told him 5 years ago
ISK selling napfest out in 0.0 won't come to an end anytime soon tho.. (lol at the losers who would actually buy ISK for this game btw)

To me it sounds like going back to when losing a zealot was a painfull thing and the loss of a supercap was news worthy.

If its roots were really so bad, i don't see how CCP expects to survive as a company. it needs new players, and making the game more difficult and putting everything in 0.0 doesn't help in that. they must be banking on AUR and Dust to really supplement their income.
what they need to be doing is making the early newbie game play easier, while making "endgame" (0.0) fleet fights much harder and more tactical than who has the most titans. mind you i have never seen an endgame fleet fight, but from what i read and heard it doesn't happen anywhere near like what happens in the I Was There trailer, with a good mix of ships and a fleet-com who by making the better tactical choice won the day.
on there little talk about income, i don't see it as being a problem. i am still sitting on **** for money. i am forced to fully invest in ships that i simply cant lose more than once cause it would be difficult to replace the modules. it doesn't matter what they do short of removing all the ISK in the game, the old will still have billions to **** around with, and the new will still struggle at the start. ôWhat we imagine is order is merely the prevailing form of chaos.ö

It might be too late to really go back, as so many people have amassed silly wealth, but I guess we'll see.

i honestly cant see how we get back there? they wanted more subs they got it by making eve soft and easy. you think there gonna **** off the bears that never leave empire? all i see by this is more nerf, no buffs and a cluster ****.. after all what have ccp actually been doing for the last 3 years apart from nerfing and ****ing things up?

"special set of shovels"à "reinforced steel boots"? Oh boy! How much AUR is that going to set us back?
TL;DR: "We want to make it easier for russian botters to further dominate the market while high/low sec becomes a boring place with nothing to do but do our little turn on the station catwalks".

Poor CCP don't realise that the horse has already bolted. Everyone has tonnes of isk through buying plex, botting or simply the easy life of Eve these days.
The best way of making isk in the game for a solo player is to simply run high-sec incursions. Totally safe and 11m isk every 8mins or so. Several hundred million isk every night for doing practically bugger all. How is that good for the game? We also have PI of course, oh and remember how all best named modules went down in price by a huge extent last year - (remember the price of meta 4 shield extenders, ABs, MWDs etc that are now ten a penny).
Life in Eve is easy now and utterly pointless as a result. CCP have lost their way and simply have no idea how to get back the ethos of what was once a very special game.

If they changed it back to roid spawns once a week... Everyone knows that the market is so wealthy because people can afford to throw ships at each other all the way up to super capitals, it is just plain ridiculous. Change the amount of minerals that can be put on market. Change the game!

Now after "Greed is good" I read every article/blog about EVE with thoughts like "where are they going to boost RMT/NeX sales here?". Like
"ItÆs really easy to make money" => "aha! They are going to screw missions/mining/industry/etc." => to force PLEX sales
"So IÆd like to take some of the broadly distributed stuff and kind of slim down the availability." => "CCP is going to screw mining" => to force PLEX sales
and so on.

-24 hours till Alara is inactive.
This gives me hope though, I will definatly check back for Dev Blogs and News. I am excited about CCP Tallest(Hero) and his ship balancing efforts. Almost all the top 20 PVP Ships are Minmatar alone with Drake, Zealot, Abbadon, Geddon and Tengu. That is what I will keep an eye on. I hope that sweeping balance changes make more ships and races much more viable.
EVE is a great game and even with all the controversy I will miss it. I will definatly be watching from time to time to see what they do.

Unfortunately, the mineral and ice rebalancing remark is geared towards helping the ISK selling napfest out in 0.0 monopolize markets...
