For a while now, a few of our members have been having a discussion on 'Brevity Codes' for voice comms in a fleet - things like "Align", "Primary" and "Jump on Contact", but we have been wondering what standards, if any, other corporations and alliances in EVE use.
While we have quite a few alumni all over (hi everyone!) we run a bit of a risk of a closed sample set, so in the interest of teaching the newbies something directly relevant, and building skills and experience they are likely to use in the future, I'm asking the question...
What fleet commands do you use?
The common ones that we in E-UNI use are:
- Plus/Minus One - Frigate or other small/fast ship travelling one system ahead or behind the fleet.
- Align X - Should be obvious.
- Best speed to X - Travel on your own to destination.
- Check Check - Order from someone to clear fleet comms.
- Defensive Modules Hot - Turn on most tank if you have it (non rep/boosters).
- Hold Cloak - When through a gate, do not move and wait.
- Hold on Contact - Hold on a gate when reached.
- Jump, Jump, Jump - Order to jump through gate you are at or on transit to.
- Jump on Contact - Jump as soon as you hit the gate.
- Offensive/Defensive Camp - Camp close to the gate (to jump through quickly) or far out at optimal.
- Primary - Hopefully everyone knows this.
- Reapproach Gate - Get to within activation distance of a gate.
- Scatter - Disengage and warp to a random celestial or safespot in-system.
- Warp to X - This should be obvious, also.
- Warp to X at Optimal - Warp to the subject at your optimal weapon range
If you can, please post what you use in your corp alliance - the idea is to use the most common set of commands where we can, but it would also be good to include some other variations for reference so our members know what to expect when they move on.
Thanks,

Pretty much the same in the RvB fleets, except:
- Instead of "Best speed to X" we use "Haul ass to X"
- Rather than "Check Check" for clearing comms, we use "Break Break"
- And instead of "Scatter" we tend to use "Bail and warp". Repeated for clarification, obviously.
It's all the same basic idea though.

You forgot
- Dock up - Return to the closest station and wait for further orders. We are war decced and will not engage the enemy
- Buy a Rifter - They are obviously the best frigate in EVE so make sure you always fly one. It's the only argument I need Shawn.
- Burn away - They're killing our rifters. We cannot win. Overload your MWD, break point range and get out of there son.

Maybe not used too much in your fleets but, Siege green. And Siege red. For capital fleet entering and leaving siege mode at the same time to avoid pilots getting stuck in siege when everyone else has left the field :p
Also very obvious meaning but I never saw "Burn" As in "Burn 50 from gate"
Good intiative. As always Uni moves with the times and stays relavent.

"Burn to X" instead of Best speed to X.
"Hold on gate" instead of "hold on contact"
"Blinky Red" for setting a module active but auto-repeat off (seige/triage/ECM/alpha fleets/etc)
"Modules hot"/"Points hot" - Activate your modules and prepare to auto-fire on next thing you target.
"X is kingpin" - For RR fleets, everybody with reps or wanting reps, approach X to get into range of each other.
"Drones to X" - assign your drones to X

- "...eyes on/in XXX." - Move a (cloaking) alt to a location. Most often used with "Get me eyes on XXX." "Do we have eyes in XXX?" and "If we'd had eyes in XXX we wouldn't have died."

Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb. Do not bomb - This means don't launch a bomb (example usage: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfrlYz-QTdA )
Also: Red/Green - can apply to other mods too like "Bubbles red" for HICs to turn off bubble, "Triage green" etc.. It's not common but some FCs say "Gates green to xyz" to mean burn to xyz Bounce spot - used as a warp-to point usually to avoid warping into a bubble. As in.. Scout: "The out-gate is drag-bubbled" FC: "One ceptor make us a bounce-spot above that gate" Out-gate - The gate you intend to leave the system via, for current travel destination In-gate - Gate you intend to enter a system via Drag-bubble - A warp-disruption bubble that it's line with the warp direction to an object (eg. gate/station), either infront or behind it but usually not actually on it
Tbh I would say almost everything mentioned in this thread is dead obvious at least for anyone with a basic understanding of EVE, even if they've never heard the commands before. Which is how it's intented to be of course _

We have some intel we like to hear.
X- is pointed (shortly after "spread tackle")
De-agress or X- is de-agressed
Weapons hot
Drones out
Red Cycle (refers to bubbles or cyno's)
Check Local (similar to "local spike" but brings ppl's attention to the local chat for various reasons)
When primary is going down we repeat the next target and call a new secondary ("X- is going down. New primary will be Y-. Secondary is Z-. Spread Tackle. Who is on that falcon?")
Falcon pilot is rarely called by name. He is usually referred to as "The Falcon". We didn't make that a rule, but it just plays out that way naturally. Same with Arazu's, Black Birds, etc.

Thanks for the input everyone.
I like the Red/Green stuff - it makes a lot of sense.
Couple of questions: As far as reporting who you have points on when spreading tackle, do you just go for someone with a name in the alphabet like yours, some similar system, or choose randomly? When reporting you have a point on someone, is it via voice (can be chaotic when there's a fairly big fleet) or in fleet chat, or depends on the fleet size?

We just call out "point/web/scram on X" on voice comms. It's usually not a problem for us because we rarely run fleets more than 50 people or so and "spread points" is only called when the enemy starts to bail or we think the battle is already won. If something happens, the FC just calls "check" or "comms" to get everybody to STFU and await further orders.

Tack (or some other spelling) get used a lot. Always thought it's some central/eastern european word. I once heard a thick-accented FC say something like "Align AB... A line thingy, what do you call it.. tack? Align A tack B" so maybe it's a bad-translation that's caught on, or a borrowed non-English word. EVE specific or not?
Anyway I like it, it's clearer than dash _

My guys have mocked me before for a line I use often "I don't wanna hear it!" Guess it's because we've never gone home in ships after a roam....
Scout: "The gate's bubbled and we're outnumbered 3-1." Me: "Jump and engage... I don't wanna hear it!!!"

Siege Red - Do not turn on siege/triage if not activated, turn it red if activated. Siege Green - Turn on siege/triage modules Need safes - Ceptors need to warp to a planet/sun and place a bookmark while in warp, then warp back to the bookmark and type "www" in fleet once they have arrived. Need a rolling safe - Ceptor/Dram needs to MWD towards a sun/planet, allowing fleet mates to warp to him at regular intervals, keeping the fleet safe from probers. Anchor on me - Everyone in fleet needs to set "keep at range" (between 500-4000) on the FC. Conga Line - Everyone sets approach on the character above then in the fleet list. Contrary to popular belief, this can have uses. Need eyes on X - A cloaky ship needs to burn to whatever fleet/system/POS/Staging and sit cloaked safely off it, then provide a short scout report on what they see. Primary, Secondary, Tertiary - Primary is main target, secondary should be locked, tertiary should be locked. If primary isn't in range, shoot secondary, if primary and secondary aren't, shoot tertiary. Drones on X - This is not a primary target for guns, but your drones should be attacking it.
This signature is useless, but it is red.

It's also obligatory for some cheery, geeky sounding american to join the channel in the middle of a major op and say 'Howdy, folks. Anything happening?'. In such circumtances, the appropriate response is 4 minutes of utter silence to make them feel awkward. CSM 6: Let's get Windypops indypops. |

"Push him through" - Aggro target on one side of the gate so jumps into the camp on the other side
"FC: Going down, X-pilot take the lead" - Pretty obvious
"GET OUT! GET OUT!" - Last words of FC, things went really bad, ECM jam tacklers everyone else try to warp/jump out.

May be redundant, but "W-up in fleet for warp in" and "Warp to W's in fleet". When we have a person giving a warp in, they drop wwwwww in fleet to indicate they're the person to warp to. I didn't encounter it at all when in Uni, only when I moved to null briefly.

You got all the big ones I like, but I've got some customs too.
- Bug Out - Warp off, don't care where
- Rally Point Xyz - Fleet needs to get to X system at Y location at z distance
- X Light the Candle - X turn on the cynosural field generator
- Split A/B/C - Split the gang into command groups based on squads, follow those commands
- X Alpha - Declare an FC for Alpha squad/wing
- Alpha {order} - Order only alpha squad to follow the given command
- Call Points - Once you've got a point on something, report in coms
- Cloakies Hold - Falcons etc stay cloaked and head for tactically viable positions
- Got Tacticals on X? - Asking for bookmarks out past warp range on celestial X
- Bait X - Volunteers for baiting x up and link their ships for FC selection
- Probes Out XY - Declare you are launching probes of X type and Y count
- X Status? - FC query for status of person/squad/objective X
- GF Agro - FC's leaving to get laid, fleet is over
- Fleets Public - Fleet advert is up so stop asking for an invite ya *****s
- Links Up - Alert the fleet to range/tactic changing warfare links becoming active
- Fleet Chat - Alert the FC to check fleet chat
- Clear Coms - STFU in voice coms

Anyway, this is an interesting OP. Iv found a few iv never thought of nore heard but well usefull.
Also, never use the word jump, unless fleet has to jump. A mistake often made when FC say Scout jump into X, and all of the surden you see half the fleet jump.

Pretty interesting thread.
Most have been covered, couple more to tack on (that I might have missed on reading)
- 'need eyes in x' - get a cloaky something to x system and relay intel
- 'mwds are on/off' - when anchoring or aligning used to micro management cap to pull / close range
- 'overheat hardeners' - normally in response to incoming bomb run
- 'do not lemming' - attempts to lower the percentage of people who cannot tell the difference between align and warp, or hold and jump
- 'align/warp/primary in broadcast' - while broadcasts are used throughout, specific use without saying target is used when spies are in comms and/or fleet to try and lower reaction time
- 'cycle your guns, set auto-repeat off' - in high lag situations
