Edited by: Mutnin on 18/07/2011 20:40:34 While it was a bit of a total mess, at least you guys threw us FW guys a bone. Unfortunately, neither side (Gallente or Caldari) was ready to take the bone and run with it, so it turned to a bunch of complaining and so forth.
I'd suggest to the event planners that they not give up on the idea of a live event such as this one, just because a first go at it wasn't well oiled. I think the biggest problem is you kinda caught us off guard with no warning and many of us were doing other stuff, so there wasn't a lot of time to get people active & ready in such a short time.
I'd like to make a few constructive suggestions.
Location was a bit problematic for the Caldari side. Abune is next door to Heydieles which is Gallente's home system for the bulk of their active pilots. This means in the event that Caldari had formed up a gang in time, it would have put us at a pretty heavy disadvantage, with Gal's being able to reship 1 jump away.
Granted Abune is likely one of the most active systems on our war front and we often fight head to head in that system, we do so with intel and a bit of pre-planning on fleet comps.
Caldari Militia, is a bit more spread out across the map, but in low sec the bulk of us live in either Enaluri or Rakapas. This is not a whine but rather feel it might be beneficial to the event planers to under stand the layout of our battlefront.
My suggestion would be to somehow give us some sort of advanced warning a short time before the event and to perhaps have them take place in a more neutral location that doesn't give one side or the other a clear advantage. I understand this has potential to also alert outside groups, but TBH that's gonna happen anyway being FW is filled with alts from everywhere.
Location wise, systems around Agoze, Vey or the ever so popular Intaki would be a nice middle of the road fighting ground. The area is already a hot bed for the guys doing the plexing and it's also pretty close to dead center between Heydieles & Enaluri.
On the Minmatar vs Amarr front likely Azard or Ezzara would be decent location unless you just wanted to toss it in the middle of the blob-lands and have a massive gank fest in Kourmonen.
Overall, I just wanted to say thanks for throwing us a bone it's just too bad we weren't able to take advantage of it. Was just odd timing for most of the regulars on the Caldari side, which didn't give us a lot of time to mount a attack. Perhaps next time it will go a bit smoother.
edit.. also while I have your attention.. Please fix the damn Pod not warping bug.

The system was cyno jammed during the event. This means that Militia forces would likely be able to counter most out side groups, that live close enough to be there in such a short time frame.
The biggest problem with this event was the fact we had no idea it was going to take place, so we were just caught off guard while doing other stuff and it was over in less 30 mins or less.

I was not there for this event and didn't even know it occurred until reading this thread, but I definitely give props to CCP for conducting it. There can never be too many live events. I wish they went on every day. Even just dev run rp stuff in-game would be awesome to enhance the Eve 'world'. |

There was a pie gang that showed up at this event and killed quite a few Gallente, but to be fair to the Frogs, I really don't think they had an organized gang. At least not what I've been used to seeing out of them.
PIE gang, yeah but this PIE gang came with caldari WTS, so go on.

LOL, no they didn't, they surprised us as well. We were in a cloaky stuff, that was intended for another purpose, but decided to try our luck hitting random targets in Abune.
We were shooting a few Gal Militia BC's on the Heyd gate, when that pie gang jumped in and uncloaked right on top of us. I'm pretty sure we all got away with no losses, but we left after that because what we had wasn't doing much good in that type of environment.

It was like one of those Sansha live events CCP has had in the past. Instead this time it was two carriers, one from each Militia intended to get a fight going between both sides.
Was a lot of RP dialogue in the Militia channels telling people to go to the systems and shoot stuff. It just didn't work out well this time because most of us had no idea what was going on and by the time we did it was too late to really do much.

Not really, Caldari has been hiring Pie gangs as of late to assist them with the Gallente. Pretty sad they can't do it on their own.

Well last thing FW needs is more NPC involvement. I think if there is one thing most of us agree on is that NPC's do not encourage PVP. The players can take care of the PVP part, we don't need NPC involvement for that. A Random live event here or there as catalyst to stir stuff up is a nice idea. We just need a bit of warning.
CCP had the right idea by using real players (I assume ccp staff) to control the carriers, but we had no idea it was going to happen and it was over before we could actually make anything happen out of it. The reason Gallente were able to get so many guys there is because it happened one jump from their home system.

i would think this is the first but not the last live event...perhaps next time you will be more ready for these types of things...
imagine a live event where you have two ccp forces controlling their respective factions... that would be epic

I was in that gang, and one thing we didn't do was jump in with the pies. We simply evaded them and left you guys to die instead of us.

Very nice that you threw us a bone, I can see you are testing the waters with this. A few suggestions...
- A lot of people were unhappy with the Caldari carrier magically disappearing. According to those who piled in on us, it was pointed, scrammed, webbed etc. Both the Gallente and the interlopers were infuriated by this. - Omune Balenne and the other ex-CalNav actor being in the FW NPC corp made it a bit unclear it was a CCP live event at first. It took a while and folks to repeat themselves for them to understand it was a live event. I'm not really sure how you could do it unless you made Federation Navy and Caldari Navy corps have access to the Militia channel...and then make them WT to the other side etc.
Most importantly though, a lot of people screamed "Bloody murder! Caldari bias!" at the Chimera disappearing. They both should have gone pop. ------------ Lum Gen Seriphyn Inhonores FDU Commanding Officer, Eleutherian Guard |

Well just to get one thing clear Pie fleet in Abune jumped and helped the Caldari who by the way were all in cloaky ships (accept 1 nano cane). Pies camed helped Gavin's zu (who has fullishing aggroing a myrm at close range and was about to die...long live alts with Falcons), and then they killed the rest of the Gall ships...so pies had a good fight. +1 for getting a 10 bs's 6 guard gang there in less then 10 min.
One thing... most of us were happy when Gavin came back to militia wf, coz we did a hell of a job in the past and we thought he will get the "squids" on their feet again. Put droping PL and Unicorns and Raiden even at every "medium" engagement... well is good for pies but it kills Militia wf :)
But we will find a way to fight this to !
Just pls ccp stop giving horrible fit carrier kills to them :P (really who puts t2 trimarks and large remoute reps on a thany... realy? )
Any "content" that leads to pvp is welcomed :) so keep it up

NP, just figured it best to give some feedback in hopes to get better communication going about FW & maybe even low sec issues.
Also I was wondering if there are any plans to add tinfoil hats to the Nex store to keep the Frogs at bay.

At least they are 'trying'.
Watch as they increase the number of random PvE events and toot their horns saying that Eve RP is once again on the forefront in the business.
Give US the players/the participants/your customers tools to write our own damn stories (FW) and stop thinking that having a guy press a "spawn X" button constitutes roleplaying content.
PS: Kourmonen spawn would be wicked. 3-4 pirate corps/alliances have a permanent presence in area and several null alliances stop by regularly .. could get ugly

If the idea is to help generate more FW fights, i would think finding a way to avoid pirates is important.
I agree it could be a wicked fight, one i would take a cloak ship to go watch

Pirates are a fact of low sec, so trying to keep them out would be a dumbing down of the game so to speak. The cyno jammed system is all that is needed in that regard IMO.
Personally, I like when Pie's are actually willing to engage because it adds another element to the fight and gives us more targets. Most of them never try to go head to head with the organized Militia gangs and just tend to try and camp gates/stations or pick off stragglers.

I was one of the pirates in that fleet. I can confidently say that we are not affiliated with any militia. We use militia chat for intel and this was an opportunity for some pew.
As for the CCP/Caldari pilot... if you're going to abuse the rules for your own amusement, at least do something funny, like DD our fleet. ****er. ________________________________ Stop nerfing everything! |
