after having a lengthy argument last night with a few people it got me to thinking how bad would they have to make missions before you said nah lvl4's are not for me any more and then just go do super easy lvl3's instead....i know so many pvp'ers who have alts just to do lvl4's and yet they mock mission runners when on their mains and say they should be forced to low sec and 0.0 because theres no risk involved yet quite happily do it with their alts.......
so many people do not have big alliances or corps or time for that matter to play eve in the way many envisage it should but does this mean they shouldnt be able to play eve or are just playing the sandbox in their way.

Once upon a time I thought lvl4's should be moved to low sec. However changes to the game since then have altered that belief. I now believe the relatively low pay of high sec lvl4's is balanced. As for low/null sec in general, it really isn't dangerous to do pve in if you know the game mechanics and aren't afk. Obviously most players fail at one of those two things since far more people do pve in high sec than anywhere else. I've been happily doing all my pve isk grinding in low/null sec since december of 2008. I've never looked back.

What I would not do is go to low sec. I know its relatively safe most of the time and relatively easy to avoid getting killed, but I just do not want the stress. It is in no way pleasurable and in fact makes me feel ill. I do not play a game to feel ill.

I wouldn't do level 4 missions without a big enough group that getting jumped by pirates wouldn't be an additional problem that we couldn't deal with. Level 4's don't pay out enough as it is to justify going to low sec solo and fitting / preparing to deal with getting ganked. Bringing multiple people would bring the reward down even more. Plus, the pirate gets the benefit in that the person running the mission is already taking on DPS.

Pretty good question really, I had to think about it a bit. CCP is always trying to get more than 10% in 0.0 and 15% in lowsec, but they never give any game enhancements that attracts new residences. They always just patch to keep the people already there happy. I've played solo for three years now and have no desire to join anything that has any of the idiots we see on the forums and local chat. I'd never go to blobsec, that's just for the knucledraggers and lemmings. You can get around lowsec pretty well if there isn't a gategank group; although you do run into a group of bottomfeeders once in awhile, but that's just the game we play. I run all my missions on the industrial acct and have a pretty good income streams from the two accts, so replacing ships and modules isn't really a problem. The real problem would be the loss of expensive attributes, augmentations, and rigs. If I decided to do the lvl 4s I'd probably have to train up a mission alt. Don't know what I'd do, I'll parse it if it happens.

I do missions for fun or to grind standings. I can do L3 missions for fun and standings. If I wanted more of a challenge I'd just use a different ship. I don't see a reason why I'd follow L4s down to low-sec.

Edited by: DemetRYS on 21/07/2011 02:56:49 I'd re-evaluate my options and probably base a few more ships and clones out of my lowsec stations. Then again, if lowsec got very crowded due to this, i'd probably just find myself a low class wh to live in. Barring that option, i'd go back to farming FW missions and nullsec player industrials in my hound.

And if everyone did theirs in low-sec the number of gate camps would skyrocket.
I would do exploration more and more instead.

Assuming 0.0 level 4s were left as-is, I'd carry on shaking the money-tree.
Missioning outside of hi-sec is not at all difficult if you're prepared to work with others and put a little effort and concentration in.
Malcanis' Law: Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of "new players", that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players. |

Yeah would stop running lvl 4's. Would not be worth it to run missions if i'm losing 500mil isk ships every day.

This. I would also be thrilled to see more 0.0 mission newbs flooding into Curse. It's a goddamn turkey shoot every weekend already.

I would stop playing the game, after hard day working low/null sec isn't something i can afford. If there was a chance or balance between mission running ships and pvp one, it could be fun, but there isn't. The only fun who is getting in low/nul sec is pvp fitted players.

I'd strip my battleships, sell them and grind level three's for my refine standings. I should probably do that anyway. Can I have your Vindicator? :D |

The current Risk/Reward is a joke It would be the same and I would just not run them. It's a lose/lose situation for a Solo mission runner. You might get away once or twice if the players waiting for you are horrible but in the end you will lose far more than you can make.
It's laughable really. You could take 3-4 people out with you to even the odds but then the payout would be even worse and even then you would be at a tatical disadvantage for the start.
If they want more low/null activity they need to come up with new mechanics and ideas, there's no way to integrate the current scheme into something that is workable for both parties.

Most this. Noone who avoids Lowsec now will do this in the future just for this. Only change: Faction stuff will get even more expensive then it is already now.
Everyone will switch to L3 or look for other activity in High Sec.

pretty easy answer, stop playing altogether. the general disdain for solo mission runners that just play for fun is clear amongst the low sec denizens. The moves by CCP to make casual play for fun even less enjoyable are obvious in recent releases. All things Hi sec are slowly turning into bland , non fun, wastes of time. No reason to play if that trend continues. |

No, you would not. Because all you'd find to fire at would be buffer tanked, plain T2 tengus, which can do the job well enough, just a bit more slowly.
It would be stupid to think players with pimp modules would bring them to low-sec as a huge "Please shoot me!" postsign.
If CCP were to remove lv4 from empire, I think I'd just sell my alt, and farm my money in 0.0 with my main. -1 sub for CCP. |

Can't be any more casual than this, either i go at full speed when time allows it for a weekend, or just some odd hours during the week. After some time in 0.0 and back in Empire about the time Incursions where launched, i never looked any further to get into mission running again.
