My trial account wont let me post here yet thats why im posting on majors.
The last thing i want to go in eve is to farm isk, im sick of it , that is why i opened a trial account to get a fresh start
Im thinking of choosing the exploration career and explore low sec perhaps, maybe later on i will engage in pvp.

Eventually you will use cloaky ships to explore in lowsec and 0.0 where the good stuff is. So you need to look at covop and T3 ships to make a choice. Personally, I'd pick the Pilgrim for that, but all races have good ships for that. The Pilgrim has a really nice drone bay for DPS so you can concentrate on staying alive and let drones do the work leaving all/most highsec slots free for probe launcher/salvager/whatnot.

Choice of race determines only your looks and some not so important things like which corp you join when you leave the player one, starting system...
Pick any race. _______________________ The best thing in EvE is Barrage M. |

Edited by: K''iran on 21/07/2011 03:14:19 Exploration can mean that you'll run into different rat type, meaning different damage types to tank and to do. For low sec you'll also want a decently fast ship so a cruiser hull just makes sense and using drones makes sense because of selectable damage types and not needing ammo.
One of the replies mentioned the pilgrim which makes sense from a cloaking point of view, but dps wise it's rather anaemic. I'd work my way towards an Ishtar (gallente drone HAC) which has a far bigger dronebay and is capable of using heavies and sentries properly. So once you start doing the higher lvl stuff you have the dps to do them decently fast.
You can still make that survivable for low sec by fitting an MWD and normal T2 cloak, with a little bit of effort&training you'll make it out of low sec gatecamps just fine. PVP wise the Ishtar has it's place but not in bigger fleets (nor does the Pilgrim for that matter).
Thing is that turret based Gallente ships are uhm... "challenging" atm so chosing Gallente right now is not logical, but it could very well be that by the time you got this char up that has changed. Then again, we've been waiting for that for years and all CCP has done is make Barbie clothes.

Actually Galentte ships are great for explorers. Skill up the drone boat line (DPS) so you can use the high slots and mids for tools of the trade without sacrificing so much capability. An Imicus is the best T1 frigate for exploration in high sec and you can get it / skill for it quickly. You don't need a probe bonused ship for most high sec and low sec sites once you get your skills high. That makes the Vexor, Myrmidion, and even a Dominix great future options to explore with. Avoid Caldari unless you want to multi-box as they lack good drone bays and can't fit the tools without sacrificing most of their firepower / tank.
