Hi All
This is not technically Eve related, but seen as this will be the largest Mac based community playing a game and using voice comms you may be able to help me.
When I use Teamspeak 3, Mumble or Ventrilo I am fine 90% of the time. However, Probably once or twice and hour my outbound sound will go static like for about 30 secs to a min, then go back normal again.
I am running Mac OS X Lion (but this happened on Snow Leopard also) with a Trust USB headset which is supposed to be "approved" to work on a Mac.
Like I say this happens on TS, Mumble and Ventrilo, so its not the voice software thats at fault, it must be something to do with the Mac?
Any ideas peeps, this is really Peeing me off now!!

This issue is global.
Check the Apple communities discussion thread about this sort of thing.
Shame it's still happening with Lion as I'd hope they would have sorted this.

The problem is not with the headsets or with the operating system. It's with the software (Teamspeak, Ventrilo etc).
They fail to correctly handle sample rate change notifications from the operating system and therefore input and output logical devices eventually go out of sync when the software thinks they operate at a sample rate that is not the one they are actually using.
This happened only with some hardware (the models that did not support separate hardware settings for input and output sample rate) in Snow Leopard but happens with all hardware in Lion where the driver model has changed (in Lion all devices are always set to have equal sample rates in both channels). --- I don't know! I don't know why I did it, I don't know why I enjoyed it, and I don't know why I'll do it again! Bart Simpson. |
