Out of interest, how would you prefer an exit warp to look?
1) Like it is just now - slow and lurching with a long deceleration and the ships coming in at an angle.
2) Or like it is in the trailers? Quick and Babylon-five like. Quick decelartion.
Example 1 Example 2 Example 3
Obviously the actual deceleration mechanic is something to discuss elsewhere - but I'd like to know what people prefer visually. ===== I have a specific comb for my beard. |

I believe a while ago a dev mentioned that a technical hurdle relating to ship orientation when exiting warp (as it appears to other players) hindering such a quick deceleration animation from working out. When and if they find a workaround to have server side ship orientation then I'm sure the trailer version warp animation will be the first thing to come of it. --------------------------------------------------

I'm don't think that's true - you see ships decelerating very slowly as they exit warp - usually on their sides too. ===== I have a specific comb for my beard. |

I want to see a pair of ethereal hands pulling open a warp tunnel like the great goatse of the cosmos before my thorax comes hurtling through.

I would rather, when we enter and exit warp, it's not a slow process. The trailers often show ships 'exploding' out of warp into real-space.
At one point, going into warp and leaving warp produced a very powerful bass 'boom' that was simply breathtaking ... if not a little old after warping 12 jumps.
I personally think that, combat wise, having the impact of a group of ships pop in on you without the overview and their slow deceleration ... that would be awesome.
On a side note, they could allow two types of warp: aggressive and controlled. Maybe an aggressive warp, while faster and giving your enemies less of a heads up (like lag and local don't already do enough of this, right?) isn't as precise. You and your ilk may end up 10km short or far in the warp than you anticipated, and possibly a little misaligned, but you got there faster.

Not only would I love to see warping like in the trailer, but I'd give an arm and 2 legs for having that sound effect on exiting warp.
