I am having an interesting issue with my PI extraction. When setting the extractor program I will get the graph displaying supposed output. According to all the guides I have read the graph is supposed to be an accurate representation of output. However once I install the program and hit submit, a completely new graph and output occurs.
For example one time I had a steady income program set, letĘs say the range was between 25-30k per 30 min, upon hitting submit the graph displayed 50k the first cycle, 30k the second cycle then 20k on down for the rest of the 2 day program. Anyone else experiencing this issue and if so what did you do to fix it?
P.S. This issue occurs I would say 75% of the time. There are times where my actual output matches the original estimated output.

A simple "yes thats common" would of sufficed

Is this actually a bug, or is it affected by one of those planet scanning skills? That would actually make some sense.

I'm gonna take a stab and guess that this occurs at new extractor locations or when you move your extractor heads?

Its not a bug - check out your extraction "curve" For 2 days it starts to get pronounced.
If you want a more steady state (on the high end), reduce your program time to one day - duration of ccle will go down too btw.
Otherwise, yes for those longer duration programs - you will see a dropoff as time goes by, that is the disadvantage to long extraction programs, (requires less checking - but lower extraction).

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Happens even if all I do is restart the program after it finishes.

Both my planetary scanning skills are level 3 so that is possible

Not what I was referring to so let me try again. Extraction graph states I will extract X at time Y (so on and so forth throughout the program) however once I start the program (not necessarily submitting changes), the extractor states I will be getting totally different amounts throughout the entire program, not just upfront. So I am just wondering if this is just part of the challenges of PI, known bug, am I doing something wrong or CCP is just screwing with our brains. DonĘt really care either way, was just curious if others experience this.

This is normal. When you click on an extractor and select scan, you get an estimated amount of raw PI mats to be extracted. When you click on install you will get an actual output for that extractor run.
One of three things will happen when you click install, the amount will be more than the estimate, the amount will be less than the estimate, or the amount will stay the same. Because the actual changes from the estimate so does your time line graph.
Your two planet scanning skills will bring the estimate closer to the actual. From what I have read going to 5 on both planetology and advanced planetology does not make that much of a difference between estimate and actual.

Well to give you an answer: No it isn't normal, Yes everyone has it.
Reason I say it isn't normal: to give you an example total yield after submit is everytime 75-80% lower than 3 seconds earlier. Let's be honest for a second, if my supplier in real life would supply me 25% less than agreed, every single time, he'd be looong gone. I don't mind it fluctuating, he'll I do'nt even mind it fluctuating +30%, but what IS ridiculous is that it's almost always less than shown.

The higher your Planetology and Adv Planetology skill the lower the variance between the pre-install and post-install values. It's my opinion that the after-install value is always the amount you'll actually extract regardless of you planetology skills. On some level the planetology skills are only useful for zeroing in on heat map hotspots, precise extraction estimates is a marginally useful secondary benefit.

Turns out you sir are correct...
The main reason is your skills. Planetology and Advanced Planetology must both be at 5 to get the most true view of the resource layer. Also there may be some discrepancy due to the server not updating the numbers instantly, the numbers are cached and therefore not absolutely up to date. But the value that you get after starting the process is correct.

On a side note...I hate cache issues lol.

So then starting a run will give you the exact numbers. What happens if you cancel, reset the timer to a different time, cancel again and set it back to the old value? If there is a true amount it should yield the same. And how accurate are the abundance graphs?
questions, questionsą.

You can do all that without adversely affecting final output by simply not hitting the submit button before doing your checking.
If you game the PI install and submit buttons, the whole complexity really does degrade to the academic.

This right here and if you have put together that the predicted avg. per houre and differnt run times have differnt pull cycles like every 15mins or every 2 houres. You have to work the time differnce out. That realy helps alot with learning how to pull.
Is it a rock? Point a Lazer at it and profit. Is it a ship? Point a Lazer at it and profit. I dont realy see any differnces here. |
