Edited by: Ity5 Brigade on 25/07/2011 01:24:47 I have been checking out PI for the first time since it was first introduced, and while I can agree that its pretty **** poor isk I an looking into it as a weekly passive income as I wont be around much for several days at a time anymore due to a new job. Id like to use this for NULLSEC PI as its supposed to be much more profitable. Ill be producing at minimum tier 3.
I have the skills to fly a Prorator, however I have never actually bought or flown the ship. Im wondering how peoples experience with it have been. To see the fit I am planning to use I will display it below:
[Prorator] 2x Nanofiber Internal Structure II 2x Inertia Stabilizers II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II Invulnerability Field II
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
2x Medium Cargohold Optimization I
Explaination: I choose two of each prop module for agility and to avoid large stacking penalties.
As for mid slots, I technically dont think I should equip either. No real reason to. Im not sure if my sig radius is increased unless I have it activated though. If it doesnt increase sig without activation then I may equip it for oh **** moments. The invuln field is practically a joke.
Covops cloak is obviously for quick cloaking when im warping.
Rigs to increase capacity to 4133k m3.
Point out all my issues. (and yes, this is an alt).

My issue is that Prorators make poor PVP ships.
However, for transporting stuff cloakie, its good at it. Instead of the invul field, why not put an ECM on it? -------------------------------------------------- I am the Love Angel, Wedding Peach, and I am very displeased by your lack of love! |

Need something to tank your Guristas/Serpentis mission/complex/whatever? Look no further than the Bustard of Doom!
Marvel as it holds all your mission loot, watch in awe as it salvages as it moves, and cream your undies as it passively tanks 1850 DPS.

OK. You need to have the best align time you can so you get away from gates ASAP.
Try something like this -
[Prorator, Runner]
Covert Ops Cloaking Device II
10MN MicroWarpdrive II ECM Burst II
Nanofiber Internal Structure II Nanofiber Internal Structure II Inertia Stabilizers II Inertia Stabilizers II
Medium Cargohold Optimization I Medium Low Friction Nozzle Joints I
Align time is 3.1s, which is pretty handy. Am not sure if the ECM Burst will really do anything on a transport, but it can make you feel better. I wouldn't worry about trying to tank it, as in most cases if you are caught you are dead.
Make sure you are cloaky all the time. When you jump through a gate, align, hit your MWD then cloak, then warp to where you want to go. Don't always warp to 0 to the gate unless you know it is clear or the system is empty. You might hit a bubble if you do, and if you are unlucky and get within 2km of the emitter as you get pulled out of warp, it will decloak you and then it is goodbye. Warp at random distances to a celestial object within 14AU of the gate then use your directional scanner to make sure there are no bubbles, then warp to 0 and jump straight away. Better still have a cloaky scout always 1 jump ahead of you.
Your sig is not important as you are cycling the MWD under cloak only, i.e. you hit MWD and then cloak giving you one whole cycle of MWD to get you away from the point you warp in at. You will appear briefly on the overview to other players and if they are ready will try and get to you, with a rapid align time and the MWD/cloak thing you won't be where they head to... It doesn't always work as an on-the-ball Dramiel/Interceptor with his MWD and SEBO already cycling may get lucky and decloak and lock you before you get away, but it unlikely.
As for the PI stuff, you won't carry much cargo in this, which means lots of trips unless you only have a couple of jumps to hi-sec. Alternatively, scan for wormholes in your PI system and when one with a decent link to hi-sec/lo-sec comes up, use it to get your stuff out. This means adding storage space on your PI project...
Hope that helps...
EDIT: posted wrong fit.

I was headed through nullsec yesterday and was caught in a gatecamped system. I jumped into the gatecamp and in my panic simply warped to the outbound gate, which of course had a bubble on it. The cynabal that was waiting there was about 250meters away from me and immediately targeted me and started shooting. Thankfully, I had the ECM Burst II on. I aligned to a celestial, hit the ECM Burst II and warped off. Definitly get an ECM Burst II, you never know
I also survived the rest of the trip. ________________________________________________

Edited by: Baneken on 25/07/2011 11:48:43 Also before you head up to 0.0 I might inform you that you no longer cannot do PI in 0.0 systems that your alliance has no sovereignty. However lucky for you some 0.2-0.1 low sec systems have as good and occasionally even better yield then some of the 0.0 planets.

Local Hull Inertia Stabilizers are better than the t2s. Same agility with less sig bloom. In Domain they cost half as much as the t2s too.

mwd, cloak and agility. Fit is fine.
If you are in a situation where you need a tank you are dead anyway, the Invuln is worth keeping on there though. ~~~

Edited by: Ryuce on 26/07/2011 06:02:17 If you are going to travel the same route quiet often make sure to set up a safe spots around each gate. They need to be more then 150 km from gate to allow for you to warp to gate from them - I normally use spots at 250-300 km just in case. By using a ceptor or cov ops, they are quick setting up along the route. These will allow for you to easier travel through camps due to being able to warp to the gate grid and then warp to the gate if it's clear. Otherwise warp to celestials around gate and scan it with directional scanner.
If you don't know the names already make sure to check which ships are Interdictors. These, especially the Sabre, could very well be your worst enemy :) |
