Stealing in a container is a agression, you can rispost if a pilot take your goods in your can. But if a rat salvage right before you your wrecks, you cannot do anything, just look. It is absolutly unfair. I want to be able to shoot a rat that is stealing my wrecks.

the reason is simple - because the rules say the wreck itself does not belong to anyone, only the stuff in it.

Edited by: Mr Cleann on 25/07/2011 17:16:40 Wrecks should be under the same guide lines as loot. I don't care which way it is. but the should be one and the same. It is absurd to think that only the stuff inside a wreck is property and not the salvage. When they both are from the same wrecked ship. Why else is there an option to "abandon wrecks" if people can take them anyways. Kinda pointless to have that in the program. Either make them both an aggressable offense or make them both a non aggressable offense. They both need to be uniformed. Be the kind of man that when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says "Oh crap, he's up!"

I think there is an RP concept to consider here. You were paid by CONCORD to destroy these ships. Therefore, technically, the wrecks and loot are property of CONCORD, as your acceptance of their payment constitutes your acceptance of the fact that you knowingly performed these duties on their behalf. CONCORD chooses to let you have the loot anyways, because unlike most real world police organizations, they don't have to worry about recouping costs to please the local government. CONCORD, within their rights, declares the actual physical wreck as derelict, and free to whomever may desire it.
Alternatively, you could just get some corp mates to come loot/salavage while you run the mission and go halfsies on everything. It speeds the process up enough that you generally make a lot better off of it, even if you're splitting the take.

Because you shouldnt leave them. You people say first come first serve on everything else but then you want everything to be yours by default.
You dont store your money in a public place do you, in real life? Why? because you get it and lock it up.

wrecks are nothing more than space trash why should concord protect space trash? (something like that was the official ccp answer to that)

Because CCP meant salvaging as a profession on its own. Full stop. All other arguments fail. Read the dev blogs about it.

Originally by: Efraya Per CCP Mitnal: Originally by: CCP Mitnal "Our policy on this is extremely clear... Salvaging is a mini-profession within EVE and does not constitute stealing."
Per GM Faolchu : Originally by: GM Faolchu Salvaging other peoples wrecks.... This is an intended game mechanic and is in no way an exploit. People salvaging your missions npcs or the player you just blew up are doing nothing wrong. The players are salvaging what is effectively floating rubbish in space and Concord places no value on this wreckage. Eve is a harsh place you won't always have everything go your way, its a do or die world and people do what they can to get along. If salvaging some wreckage gets them a few more ISK someone will do it, it doesn't matter who just blew it up.
Per Senior GM Ytterbium : Originally by: GM Ytterbium Players are still completely free to salvage other pilot wrecks at will ... and doing so is not considered as an exploit.
Per CCP Prism X : Originally by: CCP Prism X Why is stealing salvage OK? It's not. It shouldn't even be possible to move an item from your cargo-hold / hanger to another persons cargo-hold / hanger without opening a trade window. Before the salvage enters those containers it is not considered your stuff by the server code. Hence it's not stealing.
Per CCP Incognito : Originally by: CCP Incognito Had a chat with some designers this evening. Ninja salvaging is intended game play. It was always intended that the wrecks are public, the loot is private. They do not see it as a problem if others salvage your wrecks.

Because there is no theft.
The salvage isn't yours. If you want it to be yours, you have to earn it. To earn it, you have to compete with other salvagers. It is absolutely fair ù you just failed to compete. ùùù ôWe want to try this thing called micro-transactions, but we don't know what it is. Can anyone explainà aw screw it, let's just do it! What could go wrong?ö ù ÇÇP |
