Just started into lvl 3 with my hurricane. Have been alot easier than I had thought they were going to be. All through lvl 2, I just stuck to using EMP M rounds for my 650mm Atry's. Was curious, should I be using a different round? Are people using something else more often or are they tailoring it to the distance they're fighting at.
If I'm suppose to be carrying different types, which would be best to keep in stock?
thanks ahead of time. |

What ammo to use depends on the target. For short range you use fusion against angels, emp vs.sansha and blood raiders and phased plasma against guristas and serprentis. Then maybe carry 1-2 types of longer range ammo. |

EMP and Depleted Uranium are common workhorse round for lazy people for their 3 damage type layouts, but for optimal efficiency for missioning you'd want to choose your ammo according to rats, just like the persono above me has said; guides are widely available on the net for what damage type which rat is most vulnerable to. In some cases you'd also want to change your weapons according to rats, for example autocannons are poison for angels because they like to orbit close enough to be in your optimal range, whereas you'll usually be chasing Amarr rats if AC fitted. |

damagetype is much more important than really anything else, except if you're main is kinetic or if you need the tremor range for a single target when blitzing. |

google "eve damage types" and adjust your ammo type accordingly. |

Thanks for the replies, I'll just get like 5000 of each damage type and refill as needed. Seems like hitting lvl 3 missions, I'm hitting a learning curve again which is cool. Fun how deep this game is.
Also, since we're here =), Arty's and Autocannon. Why choose one over the other? I rolled Minmatar because I thought that Autocannons just sounded cool. But all the Hurricane Pve Fits I see they use Arty's. Is it a preference thing? Does one just generally outperform the other for missions?
Again, thanks for the class.... First MMO I've ever played where I continue to learn so much and as I do, enjoy the game more. |

You typically want ac's simply because they deal more damage with better tracking. This goes for near enough all missionships - however - there are some ships which simply can't wield the shortrange version for one reason or another, and thus go for long range. (Tachyons is an exception)
For level 3's long range can make sense simply because you'll want to burn through them asap without havimg to keep to much track of where to be at what point. |

This is just my experience running L3s in a Hurricane, your results may vary.
Arty works well on the 'Cane because it cuts out the majority of the risk of being close to incoming damage. If you're far out, say 50-ish Km, incoming damage is going to be low. VERY low. There's quite a few missions where I'm able to warp in, target, and blow everything up without orbiting or aligning because it just wasn't necessary.
Likewise, if things go bad and you end up with too much incoming damage, you can align to something and kite while taking out a few more rats so things will be easier when/if you have to bug out and come back later.

+1
Using an Arty 'Cane works well for L3's when you don't have a lot of tank. There is enough speed to keep range on the Angel rats and still hit them effectively with the artillery. As a low SP character I would often need to warp out if I got overwhelmed, so staying aligned and using an afterburner to get as much range as possible allows you to stay out of the majority of the damage while still getting kills. Once you can fit a nice T2 tank setup with autocannons then the missions will complete considerably faster, but it does come at a higher risk for an unskilled pilot.
I also used the same tactic when I first got a Typhoon, staying at range and hitting the closest targets meant I avoided the majority of incoming damage and spent less time warping out.

Best to use PP when dealing with any kinetic weak enemy at close ranges
