Fresh from the smooth roll out of Incarna and the promise that the door will open to exciting new multiplayer environments I would like to take this opportunity to predict what will possibly become an alternative form of griefing in the future.
Ladies, Gentlemen, Orks & Necros I give you the concepts of "Station Stalking" and "Group Hugging".
It is highly likely that a proportion of the player base will have stalking tendencies IRL and future Incarna expansions will likely allow them to further transfer this unique skill set into the game.
Linkage
The idea of following a player where ever they go in the multiplayer station environment may be crude but it will happen.
Some of the neckbeard fanbois are probably going to have a field day.
Trying to block / obstruct a toon from getting where they want to go will also likely happen.
I also foresee a scenario where a character in the main social section of a station can be huddled around by other characters and thus unable to move freely or return to CQ.
Linkage
This image helps to clarify what I mean.
I am assuming if you leave your CQ and enter social sections you will not be able click undock, as well, Harry Houdini toons just disappearing into thin air would be ridiculous.
I would assume this could maybe be circumvented by logging which might default you back to your CQ but again toons vanishing into thin air in front of others again, would be ridiculous.
Overall no doubt in some capacity, if not as suggested above, walking in stations should allow for new forms of getting lawls.
In the mean time however,

This is me and I am watching you now.

It's only 5pm and I have not consumed any cheap plonk yet so I am being serious.
I am currently watching you hang your panties out on the washing line. |

Has it been determined if avatars will actually have collision physics? A number of MMO's avoid extra calculations by allowing the toons to walk right through each other.
This would put a bit of a damper on the "group hug" idea. |

Yeah, I am just speculating ideas. If they don't give the avatars collision physics it's hard to say Eve is Real. From a griefing viewpoint I think the group hug would be hilarious. There will likely have to be restrictions. Some PC's would probably go up in smoke if you entered the Jita 4-4 station environment and it was packed full of other avatars.

You could have an afk timer so to speak so that when a group of a set size stands still for so long an NPC asks them to disperse or something along those lines so players are not stuck there all day

I just hope they have all of this on separate servers.
And hopefully non-collision is the way they go.
As far as EVE is REAL: - We can go through other solid objects in space - We have loading screens even while being popped on undocking - Blueprint copies have limited runs - Infinitely powerful police force hasn't been infiltrated and had the tech sold to capsuleers - EVE isn't real, so no reason to follow real life
However, SNIPING MERCS seem nice. I'd like to hear about assassins and bodyguards. "Oh man, I really wanted to get my boosters in that dark alley! Now I have to purchase another clone."
Maybe this is a dust appropriate feature? |

I am also hoping that CCP put doorbells on the external door of each CQ so you can ring it and ask if the person inside wants to come out and play. |

if people are desperate for that kind of action, they can put on an afro wig and hang around the swimming pool of Habbo Hotel.

OR.. you can ring the bell, then run away laughing.. and ring the next bell, and the next, and again and again and again... Reminds of of when I was a kid... ;)

Everything has its limits. This Eve is Real thing is taken way too serious when it affects smooth gameplay.
There is another well known MMORPG that allows people to run around with their toons. The developers of this game have experience of what is okay and what is not when running around with other people's toons. Watch and learn from them.

collision detection has never been a CCP speciality, what makes you think you couldnt just walk right though someone before the server realises it and bounces you back.
Not recomended after consumption of said cheap plonk by the way could be quite... colourful.

All kidding aside, I think there are some issues here that need to be thought about and Raj brings up some good points.
Personally, I envision somethin akin to the Jita 4-4 chronicle. Presumably, capsuleers are rare and I can see all sorts of bells and whistles going off in a station when one docks (I have to believe there are hundreds of non-capsuleer ships docking everyday in any station). Perhaps any sort of screwing around by a capsuleer in station would result in another version of being Concorded. Perhaps we'll all be given an unseen security escort or some sort of 'check your guns at the door' requirement.
On the other hand, if and when these things are finally implemented, perhaps the days of running away and docking will be over. Interesting possibilities here... a group hug is always nice though!

I thought that Goons do this already like in the scene from I am Legend when Will Smith follows his loyal alsatian into the building and sees the darkseekers all huddled together with his torch?

All true, but occasionally we come out in the light to move your mannequins to a different place to freak you out and snare you in our tarp.
That and we like hugs :(
