I live in Null Sec and finished a small plex. Since I recently bought a Noctis I decided to fly it out and salvage all the wrecks. After salvaging the 40+ wrecks I docked up, sold what I could and reprocessed the rest to sell minerals. I only made about 3million from all that work. Am I missing something?

Were you selling to buy orders? Also, null sec is a tough market, not as many buyers. Look into building up a blockade runner full, then ship it to highsec and sell it, you will see much better results. (Provided you can get your hauler out of null sec safely)

Small plex is the wrong part imo. 40 frigate wreck dont cost much esp mineral wise, now imagine 40 BS wrecks... ---- Drones eat everything. Trust me. |

There were BS's there too... I got like 25 million in bounty out of this plex... it just seems that the generic loot you get is all T1 junk and the salvage is almost worthless...
Salvaging just seems like a lot of work for little return.

It was probably
1. It's null sec.....
2. There can be bs in there but like how many...bs pull the best salvage idont bother salvage unless there is 10-15 bs. Anything else just not worth the time. And it's only certain parts of salvage that are worth a lot. So you probably did some salvage and got some poor salvage with the factor of point number 1

while most t1 ships aren't really worth the effort of salvaging and such, it is the t2 ships or faction ships that you encounter that are worth it to salvage. of course the t1 stuff does slowly add up, but the people that require the t1 salvage get it easilly enough from mission runners, so no point in hauling it from null sec into hi sec. ~Surviving by the blood of the Sleeping |

in a noctis you probably spent 5-7 minutes (not including travel time) salvaging 40+ wrecks. Even if you ****ed around and spent 10 minutes, that's 300k isk/m which is a rate of 18m/hr. Which ain't too shabby for some people. So it's up to you if that's worth it or not.

1. keep stashing it away 2. load it into a hauler and go to hi-sec 3. put up sell orders 5. profit ______________________

Doing a single level III quest I obtained 3.5mil off of the salvaging from it. I them proceeded to do a level IV and pulled off 4.5mil worth of salvage material. All of this is in high sec space though. I find it worth it, but I also have noticed that you can really pick up some major junk from salvaging so maybe you just got super unlucky?

Depends very heavily on the thing being salvaged.
For example one of the missions I commonly get has maybe 10 ships in it. Loot + salvage = 20+ millions. Mostly because some of the tags the ships drop are rare.
Other times I'll salvage 50 serpentis ships and wonder why I bothered.
From my experience:
Serpentis = crap salvage, crap loot Angels = OK salvage, even worse loot Mission Generic = crap salvage, good loot Sansha = good salvage, OK loot Amarr = Good salvage, good loot Caldari = crap salvage, good loot Drones = crap salvage, OK loot
To be fair though, for those last three loot replaces bounties. Also medium size mercenaries are incredibly awesome to loot because of the chance of high meta HML being worth nearly as much or more than you got out of the mission in bounties and payout.

Just salvage anything medium sized and up or faction imo.
But honestly with a noctis you might as well salvage it all. Salvage is going up right now
