Travel to Incursion constellation.
Spend an hour poasting your l337 fit and asking for fleet in an Incursion channel full of nublets, like it's some lonely hearts chatroom.
Laugh at some ****head who links his shield AND armour tanked Raven.
Finally get invited into a failfleet full of n00bs with T1 fit BS or best-named Logis.
Argue for 30 mins about comms and ship types.
Drop fleet.
Go back to running Lvl4s, because the ISK is better and you don't have to deal with ****ing morons.
/bitter vet rant
[Fake Edit] I have watched an RL friend go "raiding" in WOrld of Gheycraft. Seems like a very similar experience.

You're doing it wrong..
It shouldnt take more than a few minutes to get in a fleet.
Join the armor and/or shield channel that the players have created.

Amen. I became semi-active doing incursions and running VG fleets. Takes 5-10 minutes to form a fleet depending on the number of people and what ships FC is trying to get.
So, OP, you only just got bad FC. Try to find a better FC with better fleet composition. ----------------------------------- Peace through power!

LOL I was running a noob corp a while back and watched a 2 month old toon make 1.5 billion faster than I can plowing through missions or even wormholes. You may be doing it wrong, also there are incursion channels for the real fleets but you have to prove you are good to be invited.

A few points:
* Dude my face. A result of everything on random and an obscure camera angle. I don't care. * Didn't bring a Raven. Was a 1050DPS 170kEHP Abaddon. Could have also brought a Bhaal, Paladin, Abso or Nightmare, but erred on the side of caution for my first ever incursion. * I don't play WoW. I have never played WoW. I will never play WoW. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Barakkus on 26/07/2011 21:04:56 If you can shield tank, join BTL Pub (I don't know what the armor channel is), less n00b fleets in there, not terribly better than general incursion channel though.
Incursions are well worth it. I've had days where I make a bil in a day. I usually average 100-150m/hr, not including LP. You just have to find some blitz fleets and be willing to lay an expensive ship (like a faction BS) on the line to get into one. If I have to go with a pubbie fleet, I take a Maelstrom until I know the logi are solid, then I'll switch to my regular incursioning ship. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

Maybe I should have worded it better
1 hour of missioning > 1 hour of ****ing about in the Incursion channel and subsequent nublet fleets. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Soi Mala on 26/07/2011 22:25:58 I've had the odd day where I've spent an hour or so ****ing about in a fleet waiting for others to arrive, then others leave etc... But most of the time it's a lot better.
Join "the ditanian fleet" and "BTL Public" for armor and shield fleets respectively. There are a lot of douches who think they know better, lots of people think using blasters in pve is a good idea when typically the enemies are around 15-25km away. But I just keep my mouth shut, x up with either the standard logi or dps fits, and go with the flow. I find most of the people a little annoying, but I'm not there to make friends, i'm there to make isk.
Most of the time I find a decent fleet first time, and we blitz sites for around 10m every 5-6 minutes, plus LP.
Hang in there, blank out the morons, it's worth it.
edit - also, the sites aren't exactly tough to do, once you know what you're doing as far as triggers etc, there is no reason you can't make your own fleet, cherry pick the decent guys from the channel, and rake in some isk.

Actually the incursions smoke lvl4's income in almost every way imaginable, IF you manage to get yourself into one of the incursion corps that do it regularly.
Trying to join up with Joe Scrub and his thousand man army is an approach built on failure, getting into an incursion group that knows what its doing means your income starts at 100million and generally goes up from there depending on the group.
IF you go that route, be prepared to be told your "l337" fit (thats pgay btw, you should stop saying it) isn't what the incursion group uses and that you may need to swap to a ship that better suits the group you're running with.
Incursions are team events, the team needs to work together with proper fits and tactics or it fails, or is extremely inefficient.

Never got into a fail fleet. All could handle the incursions just fine, the worst that can be said is that some are "slow". But maybe i'm just lucky.

Step By Step Guide To Incursions:
1. Get a pirate battleship. 2. Join BTL, get in fleet. 3. Pimp ship with faction mods. 4. Fly well in fleets. 5. Get invited to private incursion channel. 6. ??? 7. Profit!

So, erm, yeah.
Tried again, ended up in a much more organised fleet, did a few of those sites where you have to put some sort of ore in a spawn container at the end, was OK.
Maybe I hadn't taken my medication earlier.
Still not sure it beats soloing cherry-picked 4s in a marauder when you take into account waiting for other people in fleet to sort their **** out. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It sounds like you had an exciting an memorable evening even if you weren't loving life at the time.
You got an interesting game experience out of it.... and probably would have fun with the right players.
You pay for entertainment ... you were entertained in away.. it was worth it.
If worth it is defined by how much isk you make most people's pvp roams , even those they deem successful aren't worth it (killed 3 billlion in isk before you lost a 150 million isk ship is a pretty ok night for most people even if you go home 150 million in the red)
