I am sure this is a completely over-asked question on the forums, but since I have a goal in sight I thought that I should give it a shot anyway.
Right now I am a carebear partly of choice and partly because my current corporation 'said' they would move to null, yet they did not. I am a massive PVP junkie in any game I have played and I intensely want to get into PVP for EVE, yet it is rather difficult to learn how to PVP solo, and plus I really enjoy gang fighting from what I've gotten people to do with me.
Question: I 'can' fly BS but am only 'good' with a BC (I fly Gallente) and I can also fly HACs, what would your personal recommendations be toward a ship I can fly in null for PVP? (I enjoy support also, not just DPS)

P.S. I would not be terribly set back if you guys mentioned cross-training to another race, but that obviously takes more valuable time.

Edited by: Cindjin on 27/07/2011 18:16:10 Like the old Motto goes:
Don't fly what you can't afford to lose.
If you're just starting out in PvP, fly cheaper well equipped ships. You will die. Period. And you will have to spend ISK.
That said... do what I did... Join a Null Sec Corp. Check the Corp recruitment forum. There are a lot of 0.0 Corps hiring all the time. Post your own ad even and I'm sure you will get offers to join.

Until you have some idea what you are doing in PVP and how to best compliment your corp's PVP initiatives, fly Rifters with T1 equipment and focus on tackling. The cost for the setup is so minimal that if you lose 20 you aren't going to be hurting.
Keep in mind that a lot of Corps run fleets looking for not just HACs(for example), but specific HACs. A Cerb, for example, wouldn't be worthwhile in an Armor Gang.

Yup cheap ships, use them love them, have fun. I used to solo PVP with just the starting set of skills back in the day (and additional 5h skill training to use Nos and scrams), but this is back when we started with 800k sp. I can tell you I lost a great deal of fights, but also won some and inflicted a LOT of damage isk wise for what I spent on those ships. I fitted them with quite literally the cheapest parts I can find and jumped everything I could catch weither it was a frig or BS (you be surprise at how mainly failfits there are out there).
I was flying a rifter back than, the goal you should have is simple. Get experience, and more importantly have fun. For 10 rifters I think I spent less than 3mil with fittings. Could also do this with cruisers, their cheap to fly and lose as well.

Agreed. Until you get the hang of it.

I agree with the rifter comments. However you can't ignore the staying power of a punisher point. I got on a few kill mails by pointing a ship and calling out the point and aggression. T1 fit ships are so cheap, staying around to get that pod when you're getting shot is totally worth it. :)
