ITT: A bunch of butthurt old***s that want more time put into MS Excel online.
You would have thought you would realize this by now. CCP will do what they want, they wanted an online space sim and that's what they're going for. While I do agree it should be a redeemable item rather then being forced into having it I think people should have a choice in the matter however none of this "opt out because I'm angry and want to take a valiant stand" BS that's getting spoken about in this thread.
@CCP Make it a redeemable reward @Butthurters It's free, use it and cry less (and ffs it's not going to skew figures, they are well aware what gets sold and what they gave away) @Everyone else, yay let's enjoy yet another free gift from CCP and enjoy playing the game we have been playing for years. - Kais |

I don't know about you guys, but I play EVE for what it has to offer right now. If it wasn't any good at the moment, I wouldn't be playing. I like the fact that CCP releases new content and patches on a regular basis, but that's not why I'm playing.
1.) Early adopters knew that Aurum is tied into the EVE market, and thus valuation could go up or down. They knew what they were signing up for. 2.) The debacle of the NEX rollout was more of a knee-jerk reaction from the playerbase on a hunch that they might be rolling out game-breaking MT which was not substantiated. I agree, they could've handled the backlash, whether warranted or not, better, but they didn't really do much wrong. 3.) We're not entitled to significant new content on any specific time basis. CCP has stated that they'll be sticking to a two expansion/year timeline; They haven't promised new ships and FW changes every six months. It's arguable whether this new content in Incarna is useful or not, but if you liked playing the game before NEX and such, why wouldn't you after? I mean, unless you miss ship spinning that much ;) (I do miss my spinning though...)
Anyway, I guess the point is that EVE hasn't really changed for the worse at all yet, and until it does, I'll be playing. If you're bored with the game, lapse your account for a few months until you feel the urge to play again.
Same here, I am not so naive to think that CCP can ever appease this newer wave of subscribers in EVE since the past year or two, that have the same mentality most of the Warcraft subscriber base has.
Everything should be free, perfect, flawless, and available to appease their insatiable greed for new content every four weeks or they are going to raise the biggest stink you have ever seen in your life, online.
Ooh scary, !
Meanwhile the adults among us logon every night, shoot the **** out of some ships, logoff, and go to sleep happy, because this is a game, and we make our own entertainment and always have. We do not need it spoon fed to us from a total and absolute lack of imagination or ability to entertain ourselves.
It makes me feel somewhat disheartened that at the ripe old age of 29 I am already disillusioned with a bunch of ****ant kids clamoring that a game developer hasn't made enough toys for them and they're bored, when they may as well be choking on the ones that have been made already.
The issue I have is lack of polished content, I have no issue with no new shiny stuff. I have an issue with half of the content currently in the game only being half finished.
Does that mean I quit? No. But it does mean I'm not satisfied with ccp's current direction. It does mean I don't want their AUR, I want them to get back to work on spaceships.
I want the art teams that are working on AUR products to stop working on it, and start updating the ship gfx. I want those same art teams to work on the Dead Horse Pos thread, or at least something that has to do with space, and not being docked in station.
I'm not going to throw a fit about it, but I will have this AUR in my wallet forever, or at least till I can transfer it to an alt and biomass. In protest to CCP's NEX store. The Resurrection: Support the Revised Dead Horse Pos thread in Assembly Hall |

I'm right there with ya, preaching to the choir there... I wish they had just given up on WiS two years ago when Dominion flopped onto the table, but I can't blame them for sticking to their promises, no matter how far down the line they have had to drag them.
However, if you look at it from a newbie perspective, incoming subscribers won't know the difference and in fact I would almost posit that a good deal of them would be quite impressed with the initial pitch of CQ, at least for a few weeks until they figured out there is not anything more to it, but by that time they've been hooked.
Pretty clever of CCP IMO, and new subscribers are required to balance out unsubscribers so... good show CCP... (just don't forget those of us who have been hanging around much longer than the actual burnout rate on new players within a short few months).

While I agree new subs are important, they would lose less subs overall if the content was well balanced, polished, and finished before they move onto new shiny stuff. It would be perfectly fine to add things to the game, but not at the cost of the quality of the game, which has always been lacking.
The only reason I am still here, and I am sure a ton of older players are still here, is because there is no other space MMO that can compete with eve, and the closest thing is Mechs online basically and while that's cool, they aren't the spaceships I am looking for. I recognise this as nothing but a cheap marketing trick intent on coercing the player-base into using a controversial game feature.
While the MT store itself does not offend me, I wish only to ignore it. Implying that 1000 Aurum I can do nothing with without topping-up, and thus facilitating the NEX store, leading to statistics implying success of that service, is nothing but a dirty trick and an insult.
I wish for an option to opt out on all my accounts.
I wish to opt out from reading moronic pseudopolitical statements aimed to antagonize a feature that no one is forced to use, and has no impact on the game whatsoever, but that shallow people like to define "controversial", because they ran out of stuff to whine about.

OK then how about we go back and add a check/uncheck box under gameplay options to turn on/off the Aurum indicator in my wallet. I believe this was asked for already in one of the the "Take AUR and shove it" threads.

The Aurum is in no way, shape or form free to any player of EVE. In fact, it points towards a deep well of failure on behalf of the marketing department to try and give it away, be it for subscribing or spamming your friends with EVE propaganda on your social network of choice.
You don't think that this whole 'EVE is real' and the Aurum incentives weren't planned well in advance of the Incarna release? Interesting.
I think you should have taken the red pill

Just like the design decision to remove the ship spinning joy and replace it with compulsory CQ was to increase advertising exposure to use the NEX store, this is yet another move in that direction. The fact that it isn't redeemable like every other "gift" we have received means that CCP want to make sure EVERY character gets its 1000 AUR. Most people will use the AUR to buy the boots and it will achieve a number of things.
Firstly it will be able to be used as a metric to show that the NEX store is more used than we have been using it.
Secondly if you are exposed to using something once then you are more likely to do it again despite knowing morally that it's a pile of tripe.
Like all advertising it plays on your little human tendencies, despite how immune you may feel you are to them.

Will CCP exclude this AUR usage from people voluntarily buying AUR to determine the success of the NEX store ? Or will the next QEN report NEX as a huge success as masses of people spent their free 1000 AUR.
