Close your eyes... breath... then picture the door. It IS there.. the door IS REAL.
A voice: "You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension - a dimension of sales, a dimension of sights, a dimension of mindlessness and insecurity. You're moving into a land of both smoke and mirrors, of shadows lacking substance, of virtual things, broken egos and failed ideas. You've just crossed over into the Vanity Zone.
I DON'T CARE IF THAT "DOOR" EVER GOES ANYWHERE - and raise prices on NeX, bleed the foppish idiots dry!

"Introduce" is a very strange term here, the correct term would be repair. I believe they can find the required programming in earlier versions of EVE, so I would believe repairing it would be no harder then copy-pasting the code. Furthermore, I do not think the EVE community wants ship spinning back "in some form", but instead wants it back completely.

And then if you apply a little bit of imagination there are so much better choices for the desktop background that they use now, like a cam view showing what goes on outside the station or a traffic overview or whatever.
I wish they had just implemented a remote operable camera that you could use to inspect your ship or shown a more detailed view of your ship like an open cargo bay or something. Even switching between stills would have been fine. I find this door print really annoying.

Dear Ms Valentinian,
Thank you for your forum post, we very much welcome feedback from our customers. Whilst we appreciate that you may have lost a little functionality in using your internet spaceship we think you will agree our improvements have made it much much easier to buy monocles and dresses.
We are sure that as a avid follower of fashion, keen to look great whatever the season, that you will appreciate the great new features that Incarna brings and that playing with internet spaceships is really a bit silly anyway.
With kind regards,

You know what really takes the biscuit? The option to not load station environment has been there for years, though most never noticed it.
Before, when you selected it, you'd still get a view of your hangar and ship (allbeit a static one) and it STILL had the doubleclick cargohold and drag and drop functionality..
So, CCP literally went out of their way to remove those features and actively made the option worse, in a rather ******ed attempt to make people use their WOD beta test.
****ing ***gots.

There is also Alt+C to open cargo, Alt+N to open the hangar.
I know, not as interesting as interacting with the ship icons directly, but it's there.
The worst bit is that we aren't even facing anything we can interact with when we dock/decant/dress/stand on the balcony.

You know what's going to happen? I'll tell you.
CCP are going to design a new view that consumes 5 times the resources of old ship spinning, melts your graphics card, and doesn't let you open up your cargo bay with a double-click. If they're REALLY talented, it won't even show what ship you're currently using.
Then when the playerbase reacts with justified ire, CCP are going to be completely dumbfounded because they didn't realize that our attachment to ship spinning has nothing to do with an emotional childlike nostalgia but because IT BARELY USED UP ANY CPU OR GPU RESOURCES, DISPLAYED WHAT SHIP I WAS CURRENTLY FLYING, AND LET ME OPEN UP MY CARGO BAY BY DOUBLE CLICKING.
At some point, Aurum will be involved.

Technically they did not reduce functionality as you can still open the cargo, they changed the behavior.

Do not try and open the door. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truthà there is no door!
Also, I wonder why so many are willing to deny the reality of the OP. It is what has been said many times. Which is, "Why make something that was so simple and direct more complicated?"
You don't make a product or game harder and more complicated for the customer. You make it easier and more enjoyable.
You also don't force said complication down the customer's throat. If CCP would learn that then they wouldn't have to make a new campaign about EVE being "real" and post pictures of their half baked features.

You can't open it as quickly without changing tabs in the station window, which means to put anything in after you open your cargo, you have to go and change the tabs again to get back to your hangar. R A I N B O W S |

Well just to be clear, I agree with the sentiment of the OP. My thinking is that if you are going to try and make an argument, being as accurate as possible is the best way, regardless of what Fox News has taught the masses.
It also helps not to be insulting, but people seem to be going absolutely insane over trivial things so I don't think that message will break through at all.

I see where you're coming from, though I think your worry is misplaced. The argument in question has been made numerous times on these forums in excruciating detail, so there is not really a need for more. IMO the OP is just venting.

I keep the CQ on in one client because I like it. The static image on the other is very ugly, though. At least have a few different images for different station types.

On top of that is the un-docking in the wrong ship or in your pod because it's not that obvious which ship you have active at the moment.
I'm a fan of the WIS idea but CQ is just off for me at present because the whole thing is driving me nuts because of the above.

Yes they did remove functionality. You can no longer make a different ship active by dragging its icon into the main view, neither in the CQ nor with the static image. This is 100% more annoying as one needs to hunt through slow-loading menus.
Second, in the static view, you can't tell at a glance which ship you are in. "You don't remember what you docked with a moment ago?" you say? Well, say this is on my alt I haven't played for a week or two, and I need him in the right ship NOW. ---

Selfquoting, I'm THAT arrogant. But to me it says it all. CCP actively made this worse on purpose. The argument of "it's not that bad" fails to stand up to that point.
It was a fail attempt to make people use their ****ty barbie, but they underestimated just how ****ty their barbie was, and never thought people would STILL prefer to stare at a brown door than their poor attempt at an engine.
