Love that game and every thing made by Troika.
Especially love how they handled that crazy prophetess lady near the start.
Here's a hint, everything she says happens. and for Kain's sake when you ask her for her advice FOLLOW HER ADVICE! and further more why do i even need a sig? |

Edited by: Nerath Naaris on 29/07/2011 16:18:15 If you donŠt have it yet, GET IT!
It is basically a FPS (with the Halo engine, I believe), but lots of freedom, awesome dialogue and replay value (hint: replay as Malkavian!) and a great story, though the end is rather combat-heavy.
Also, this is one of the two games where I actually had a "shock moment" (the Ocean House hotel; the other moment was the Shalebridge Cradle from Thief: Deadly Shadows)... and I have played a lot of so called "horror" FPS.
Important note: Be sure to PATCH it, the original release was terribly bugged. The current version of the patch is v7.5 or something...

An awesome game, with good replayability story-wise AND gameplay wise, since all the bloodlines have a different set of abilities that make them feel quite different.
And playing a Malkavian is so hilarious.

It's built on an early version of the source engine. That's why it was buggy. Valve wouldn't release the final version of Source when HL2 was in development, and this was built at the same time.
That said, it is a fantastic game. If you like the lore, check out Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption if you can find it. Also a great jem.

QFT.
And patching it is mandatory. The fans fixed a lot of bugs, dialog issues, and even made minor tweaks.

what's so good about it? Never heard about it or played it before.
Keep in mind I'm not a huge vampire fan (or rpg for that matter, depending on what kind of rpg it is).

It has an interesting history and something of a 'cult following' -to this day the community continues to release new mods which is indicative of a game that has a lot going for it.
Upon release it was seen as a flawed gem -a masterpiece cut down by game breaking bugs and the like. The community has worked hard to iron out the bugs and we're left with something really special.
It's dark, brutal, sexy and has some of the best dialogue you'll find in any game. Extend your gaming horizon and give it a try.
EDIT: Here's the latest article from Rock, Paper Shotgun dated 15 July 2011 Link: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/15/undying-vampire-bloodlines-patched-anew/

If you haven't heard of this game before, here's a couple of reasons why you may want to check it out:
Vampires the Masquerade: Bloodlines (Vtm:B) is based on a pen and paper RPG made by White Wolf. Let me quote "On Saturday, 11 November 2006, White Wolf and CCP Games, the Icelandic MMO development company responsible for EVE Online, announced a merger between the two companies during the keynote address at the EVE Online Fanfest 2006. It was also revealed that a World of Darkness MMORPG was already in the planning stages." source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_Wolf#Merger
Troika Games, the company which made Vtm:B, are basically the guys who started the Fallout series. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troika_Games#History
Another great game by Troika Games was their debut: "Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura".

One of the best games ever tbh, tweak the graphics and you've got a bestseller in modern day cause of the whole "ooh I'm a vampire" hypes.
I still return to this game on nights when I'm bored/wardecked. those are the days I look at the clock "F*CK! 6AM! work in an hour!!"

Will treat Steam as a warning sticker in the future, got my bought and paid for copy of L4D2 but can't play it 'cause it's hooked into a Steaming pile of crap.

That goes for Arcanum too right? Because that game was great, it's shame they never made a sequel but I suppose that makes Arcanum even sweeter.
