I believe we can expect a 'nerf' or fundamental change to w-space in the 'winter expansion'.
The reason I believe this will occur is two fold:
Firstly the current CSM (null sec focused) has a vested interest in seeing the comparative wealth of null sec increase against that of w-space. This could be achieved through the reduction of ABC minerals or by adjusting the drop rates of key T3 materials.
Secondly CCP has a vested interest in having players leave w-space which has no stations and therefore no Incarna or CQ facilities. This in essence represents a lost revenue source for CCP as these players are much less likely to purchase vanity items (as they have no function).

or they could expand Incarna with animated player portraits, cockpit vision etc etc. So no need to nerf wormholes, if they use 1 of their braincells

Prolly will be a shift in income soon. They talked about removing ABC, but boosters will be hot when they revamp them and introduce the new smuggling. Less mining, more drugs. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

You are operating under the assumption that since the release of the vanity items, CCP's marketing strategy completly changed, its main focus being the selling of said items.

Seriously?
Because I'd be willing to put up a small highsec POS in my mission running area just to ship spin again :)

Edited by: Snyderm on 29/07/2011 17:50:26 The rhetoric on this thread doesn't quite match reality. CCP just got done nerfing income earning in 0.0. Havens and sanctums, the bread and butter of a lot of eve players just got nerfed.
So it is rather incorrect to be saying CCP is all about catering to 0.0 income. The new risk/versus reward changes in 0.0 that are coming are unlikely to be simply a boost to 0.0 earnings for this reason.
Its difficult to believe they would be all about nerfing income in 0.0 and then 3 months later be all about boosting it.

I think WH space should actually be buffed a bit, I mean yeah its good as it is but I think there should be some form of mechanic to allow people with a POS to claim the area and have a form of structure to tell you people are around cloaked or not.
If CCP didn't mean for eve citizens to be in W space much or live there then they shouldn't have introduced it. If they nerf WHs then T3 prices will soar dramatically due to the price of nanos etc rising through the roof. ABCs should stay in WHs because it makes no sense to not have them.
Id like to speak about the 0.0 people now, You play in the richest place in eve and your getting evermore greedy which I think should stop.
You seem to want all the best bits of the game for yourself which is utterly wrong. Also W space is alot more dangerous than 0.0 so I think W space should not be nerfed.

You see, this is why I never really want to quit eve. The player base is made up of such highly dedicated trolls! you just don't find this level of commitment forom other online communities!
Here he is just waiting for me to make another post... Hoping for the rage! Oh, the anticipation!
I was trying to point out that this thread is just a troll trying to anger 0.0 inhabitants by claiming ccp just loves them to death! Of course then I got hit with another unrelated troll just trying to do that!
I just don't think that people are going to leave this game. Because despite whatever ccp decides to nerf, EVE simply has the best and most dedicated community there is. So after they nerf wormholes, you might as well just do more wormholes.

Are you sure of what you're just say'in?
CCP Soundwave quote : >> IĈm not a big fan of putting more systems into EVE. I think EVE is a deeply social game, and diluting system population wonĈt benefit the game really. If anything, IĈd like every system have be inhabited by a few people, especially in known space. Exploration content like Wormholes on the other hand, that rely on venturing into the unknown could potentially be expanded.<<
Here, read it.

If this happened then it would be eerily similar to real life, with powerful corporations lobbying governments to change policy so that policy becomes more beneficial to those corporations... Honestly if CCP actually wanted to made 0.0 more lucrative they could do so without breaking w-space. Just add more belts/ABC roids to null instead of "taking away".
For myself I don't see a need for a w-space nerf. W-space is not easy at all to live in - it's a logistics nightmare since you never know where you will be linked to next. You can't plan ahead. I advocate leaving it alone.

This argument has a few flaws:
1) Players have to leave w-space regularly, because there is no ice in w-space. 2) Players living in w-space with no local rarely meet others (unless it's to kill them) so who are they going to show off their monocles to? I would argue that these hermit-like players are not nor were they ever part of the target demographic anyway.

Easy solution:
Fix the whole POS system (modular starbases), they look and work like a wip alpha version of the alliance outposts. Make dockable, because they're large enough to host thousand of people in.
Now CCP you can sell as much NeX things as you want even in W-Space.
