I want to be able to scan down a mission runner, ninja salvage their loot, then put a point on them if they shoot me while my friend jumps in with an actual combat ship, allowing me to leave with my ship intact. Is the high priority going to be finding a ship with enough highs for scanner/salvager/rocket launcher but with 2 mids (AB/MWD) + point? I know the Amarr destroyer only has one mid slot, taking it out of the running. Mind you, this is for some relatively brand new players going after level 2 (heh) or 3 mission runners, just to have a little fun in frigate or cruiser class PvP and learn the game |

I suggest you learn how aggression rules work. ~~~

Should edit the original to fix "looting" instead of salvaging. But I will make this to increase my shame...
But yes yes I know salvaging doesn't cause aggression, which is why there are so many threads about it. |

I still suggest you learn aggro mechanics. ~~~

Your friend will not be able to shoot them.
Have him in a logistics, thats how standard hisec douchebaggery works.

Pretty sure she's trying to say corpies won't get aggro, only you, so your little plan won't work.
Other than that, plenty of ships have enough slots. You need enough dps to overcome any tank they're using, as they'll mostly be active tanked. Other than that, pick something you like and run with it.

Yeah, I learned this the hard way when I first started. A corpy got flipped while we were out of system. Told him to flip it back once we got there. We had to watched him burneded. ------------------------------------------------ Inventor of the DracolicheÖ Troll Warning System |

Yes, I do need to learn aggro mechanics. Having only done the NPE and some missions I am definitely unprepared, and I'm assuming I'm going to lose about 99 of my first 100 fights just learning the nuances. But thank you to those who explained the mechanics a bit more, looks like I just need to follow the Punisher Plan from here on out, then get CONCORD'd enough times to learn personal/corp agro

Edited by: bushwacka on 30/07/2011 07:31:23 you need dedicated ships, not a half-assed swiss army knife destroyer. 1. scan them down in any probing frig 2. get in with your salvage/bait ship 3. if they shoot, have your friend warp in with a pew boat, eject and hop in. that's the tricky part of course, since you'll have to lock and scramble your victim again. i recommend webbing them before this part - the time they need to accelerate for warp should suffice for you to establish a lock, even if they were aligned, as long as they are in something bigger than a frig.
you can of course combine your bait and pew ship - but if you go too big, far less mission runners will shoot you (always bet on stupid though) and if you go too small, you'll have trouble killing them if they aren't ****fit
