What is it to be a Pod Pilot? CONCORD declares the day of our first PLEX Licensing to be the day of our birth. How is this possible I wonder, and what significance does it hold to each of us? To explain this by my own theory I must branch into the concepts of the cloning process, while it is known very few people are capable of withstanding both the training and implant process of becoming a successful pod Pilot, while I have not found any official documentation on case study, it is known that unstable pilots who were first attempted as integration into the pod system were met with multiple failures. Due to the deadly nature of the process and our own disdain for the constraints of true mortality in the preservation of higher functional knowledge, it is possible we are each of us clones of a planet side scientist, politician, soldier, or even civilian whose genetic code matched the criteria for the Pod program. Given this perspective, is it so far a stretch of the imagination to believe should we have the capacity to walk amongst our home worlds that we would not interact with our host selves? In this thinking, I return to the concept of memory, it is a highly regular factor amongst the pilots met in the happenings of intergalactic commerce, war and industrial action to retain no memory of their past beyond that of their academy certification courses. Those who do retain, or claim to retain memory of their past do so as just that, a memory, I pose this to you then, what is memory but a series of electrical impulses perpetuated by the neurons within the brain. Incidentally, neurological impulses can be rewritten this is proven by the very act of cloning, be it a medical clone or a jump clone as they have become so common place in our existence as tools of the trade of Pod Piloting.
As a secondary proving to this theory, the cry for physical interaction within the stations as it was petitioned by thousands of the earliest of what is now the median pilot shows evidence of the most basic need for both secrecy and social accord which defies the idea that we are perpetuating space travel by choice. It can be surmised that our very existence is to enable intergalactic conflict and progress without direct detriment to the collective populace of qualified ship operators. This would allow for a equivalent balance to AI directed fleets without the uncontrolled quantifier of self replication and immunity to sociological or psychological manipulation. The ęhumanĘ aspect of utilizing pod pilots as the control for these ships allows a certain level of control which could not be obtained with the Drones and other AI experiments. Knowing this, it is possible that the threat the nation poses is greater still as it is a merger of the two worlds, the single mindedness of a collective effort under the direction of a single conscious thought with the capacity for creative adaptability we as humans posses over programmed AIĘs whose basis of thought is pure logic. It is a matter for all of the Races of New Eden to take into consideration, the very reason for the constant conflict with the Sleepers and the Rogue Drones is now visited upon us by the nation and its collaborators. The connection to the awakened Infomorph between these essences of corrupt ideas is disturbing to say the least. Stand united against a common enemy as they have risen to meet you, or vanish as a whisper into the night, the choice is yours.
