I was wondering about moon mining. Currently setting up a pos for it and had some questions.
The Moon Harvesting Array - How many can you have mining at one time? Just one more multiple ones? Is there a limit besides cpu/powergrid?
I have searched and I have not found an answer yet. I can see vaguely that you can have more than one, but whether or not you can actually make use of them, none of my sources say.
Thanks in advance!

One miner per mineral that's present on the moon.
Note that mineral abundace doesn't do anything. Having, say, 2x Titanium doesn't mean that you can put two miners on it, or that you get twice the amount. ---

One moon miner for each TYPE of mineral on the moon, and you get exactly 100 per hour from it. All "valuable" moons are not just taken, but also usually heavily guarded (and most of their locations are public info - http://evemaps.dotlan.net/region/moons). You will barely break even with fuel costs if all you do is moon-mine on an undisputed moon, so it is highly recommended to go into reacting instead (and just buy all the rarer moon minerals from the market). Thread about reactions. _

Can you use more than one harvesting array on the same moon mineral simultaneously?

So how profitable is moon mining relly. Is it still practicable in low sec or do you have to have a 0.0 moon to make it worthwhile

The security status doesn't matter (as long as it's 0.3 or less), what matters is the mineral found on the moon. Even the "best" minerals can be found in lowsec, and even in nullsec most of the moons are empty or worthless.
Whether it's worth it depends entirely on which moon you manage to claim and how long can you hold it for. ---

OK so assuming I can find a decent moon, put up a couple of poses run complex reactions etc what would the ballpark return be. Am I looking at 100 mill/month, 500 mill, more? - I'm just trying to get an idea of how worthwhile it would be. I have downloaded an excellent spreadsheet which gives some numbers but the experienced hand can probably give me a better feel for the 'real' returns.

Look at prices for moongoo. Though all the 'good' ones are taken, and usually quite well guarded, there's still some out there that while not a huge moneymaker, are still good at turning you a tidy profit. But if you want to look at big figures, do the math.. 100 Technetium per hour, 24/7, with a price of 80k per unit I believe at the moment.

Edited by: Caghji on 01/08/2011 14:17:25 With a mixture of low grade combined with medium grade moons going to final product through complex recations we are making 133 mil a month per moon profit after all fuel costs (including PI)
