With the inroduction of Aur as an in game currency and the future potential of it being tradeable I ask now, how many of us will begin demanding Aur as ransom currency?
We know CCP said it won't become a p2w currency, but time proves again and again that their word is only as good as the playerbases attitude.
In the comming months when Aur becomes tradeable be ready to lose alot of money in this game.
This has been a State of the Pirate Nation.

And before you ask me "Why am I a moron, Coffe's Babe?" you should know that a pirate demanding vanity items currency is the pinnacle of ******ation.

I think that's it. Who cares about Aur ransom? It's either paid or not. No big deal. ------------------------------------------------ Inventor of the DracolicheÖ Troll Warning System |

Oh I'm sorry did I hit a nerve there?
And the purpose of this thread is to point out the extent of future player extortion. Aur is essentially guaranteed cash destruction/theft. ISK can be earned in time. It's better to troll by demanding Aur than it is to demand isk. As demanding Aur ensures you have essentially stolen $20 dollars from someone's wallet.

Every "1000 AUR for free!!one1!1!!" offer from CCP injects around 100,000~110,000 PLEX, or 2 million USD/euro worth of Aurum into the economy. A total of 5,500 Aurum per account translates to about 500,000~550,000 PLEX worth of Aurum introduced to the system. That's more than CCP's profit margin during the last 2010 economic year, and usually it takes more than a year to burn that amount of PLEX through subscription and PLEX fueled cynos.
The only thing keeping that astronomical amount of Aurum from flooding the entire vanity items market is disallowing the transfer of Aurum between players, so if CCP management has any sense left it would have to withhold Aurum transfer at least until a significant portion of the playerbase has a shiny new suit(or monocle), or otherwise it will see very little net PLEX usage from vanity item sales until 2013.
Not sure where the economist was while the decision was being made -----------------------------------------------

I ransom. I honor. And people don't pay up not just because they think you won't honor it, but because they can replace it with their 3 carebear alts funneling cash into their main.

Probably giving them the idea to create interest in vanity items. 'Hey, look, I've got some free stuff. But it's not enough for anything other than a pair of boots. Hey, I'll just buy a PLEX and convert it and get some GOOD stuff!' Unfortunately, vanity items are useless.

I can't believe I'm actually going to indulge the OP with a reply but ...
The common ransom currency is unlikely to ever become Aurum. It's not a popular enough currency at the moment and in all honesty - I think most people would rather see their vessel's explode before paying a ransom using Aurum.
It is and probably will always remain ISK for the simple fact that it's a reliable currency.

That Taranis wasn't expecting me to have a web but + rep to him for engaging. Pretty much just engaging anything that has a 10% chance of dying with these things. Wish I trained arty spec beyond I already, these are great fun; and super cheap.
The fun part of fitting them out in bulk is coming up with names for each of them in the time it takes to fit them out without going past the session timer for jumping into the next one. ~~~

Bolding every word in a sentence isn't cute, funny, or interesting. It's irritating and makes you look like a little kid.
Also don't call people morons when they are just wondering how something will work out. Those who ask questions are smarter than those that don't.

If isk can buy PLEX can't you already put a cash value on isk? Anybody can grind out isk to buy a monocle.
