Today I got spam in my mail box from CCP advertising their EVE is Real pos site. Not my in game eve-mail box, my REAL LIFE e-mail box. At least I was able to unsubscribe from that spam.
I also got spam from CCP in my eve-mail box about new items in their NEX store. Apparently I cannot unsubscribe to this.
Spam from CCP on this stuff?! How desperate are they and how fail is a portion of EVE if they have to resort to this type of marketing to push it?

Some people have access to spam filters and know how to use them.
Perhaps it's time you switched your ISP?

I blocked their in-game spammer toon. And will do so with any other CCP utilized eve-mail spammer toon.
CCP may really want to shove their c.o.c.k.s NEX rubbish down our throats, but I'm not having any of it.

Some people have access to intellect, the ability to read and know how to use them. Perhaps itĘs time you tried that.

I sent a response back.
Quote:
I'd like to discuss the pricing scheme of the NEX Store with you at your next available opportunity.
Feel free to schedule an appointment with me to discuss the matter.
I'd also like to discuss the presentation of your Amarrian storefront to Minmatar clients, and how you fail to address that public relations issue.

Yah the CSP charge to reply was the final insult. Opened petitions on each account that got the CCP spam.

I wrote a long letter back explaining why I will never be using the NeX store or Aurum in the foreseeable future. I also told them to never spam me again. I hope CCP is reading them all. I'll start playing Diablo with my other friends if they don't shape up.

Forum post from some guy. Reeks of attention seeking.
In other news, all corporate marketing is a sign of desperation.

I get spammed on a daily basis by ISK sellers, moochers, scammers, corp recruiters even some Eve beauty contest looking for entrants. It a part of the game. An Aurum flyer is just more of the same. I'm not any more offended by it than I am by any of the other stuff. Some of you people are far to sensitive to be playing an MMO.

Replying to SPAM incurs 2950 ISK CSPA charge... CCCP now also trying to create another ISK sink it seems...

Yeah 'Desperation 20/20' is a clear insight on this. I've told them what they can stick the Aur and blocked the toon.

I like the fact that they make the ingame mail sound like its from an actual ingame NPC. Not like the usual promotional mail. God forbid they want to make their NEX store known to players who do not follow every patch note or dev blog release.
My choice was to read the mail, not act upon it and just continue to play the game. Raging about it is just not worth it. Simply a company trying to make some money.
"At least I was able to unsubscribe from that spam."
That option has been in Account Management forever.
"... if they have to resort to this type of marketing to push it?"
I get letters from pizza places, take out asian food restaurants, local newspapers full of ads and payed for articles. Its a normal thing for businesses to do. I can opt out on that by placing a notice on my mailbox.
So its not like this is anything uncommon. Have you ever played other games? An increasing number of those requires some sort of account with the publisher. Bioware does this for Dragon Age DLCs, as well as many others. They also send you promotional mail, unless you un-check that during registration or later on in the options.
So, you have been given many options and are in no place to complain about this.

Or maybe they were just letting everyone know about the Aurum that was deposited into their wallets, with a nice RP touch?
Nahhhhhh, we should just sit here and grasp at desperate ways to continue making idiots out of ourselves on the forums.

This spam mail was merely a method to establish the NeX store as a RP entity.
I actually applaud the attempt to more thoroughly integrate new features into the game world, up to a story based level.
Interpreting this as an act of desperation is close to being delusional. --------

I just petitioned the spamming char for breach of tos, as I do with any other spammer too.
I mean from players they expecting to follow the TOS, so I can expect CCP to obey it too. |
