CCP is threatening your rights! Their Aurum system is a blight on the community and we God-fearing capsuleers shouldn't have to stand by and watch their rampant greed destroy the community we hold so dear to us! What about the principle of the matter?! What about the children?!
By God, someone think of the children!
Alright, stop. Let's be real for a second.
No one is forcing you to buy boots for your 1000 free Aurum. No one is forcing you to buy Aurum with your cash. It has no effect on gameplay, and, let this not be understated, it's completely optional. At your discretion, that is.á
I don't particularly like it, because it's not something I can take advantage of. I'm not going to pay real cash for a monocle, but at no point did it cross my mind that I should be outraged at CCP because how dare they give us the option of exchanging real money for useless pieces of clothing. Honestly, guys, calm down. CCP is a business. They exist to make money, and if this is one of the ways they want to do it, so be it. Just because I don't want a monocle doesn't mean someone else might see value in it.á
If this is a principle of a matter thing, which it is, considering how many people I see on the forums raving about wanting their Aurum rescinded, someone explain it to me. How, exactly, is this system detrimental to you? You have the freedom to choose whether or not you want to spend money on the NeX. There's no coercion involved.
So yeah, either provide me with a reasonable justification for the outrage and wild accusations thrown at CCP of "destroying EVE," or just, I don't know, cover the NeX icon up with your finger whenever you dock somewhere.á
Out of sight, out of mind, you know?

I have no problem with CCP trying to make money, I do have a problem with CCP trying to make money off of us while not having the well being of our spaceships game as their priority. ___ Abriael VonRosen lost a crapfit hauler in Rancer, showing he has no clue on EVE and thus his words mean nothing. |

Fair point. Time is being wasted on NeX content that could be used to fix issues with the actual game. Unfortunately from what I've read this isn't the major concern of the players. As much as it's a decent reason to be disappointed with CCp's allocation of effort, it's just nor the focus of the outrage.

Edited by: Magnus Veyr on 31/07/2011 07:28:05 in it's basics, it is. CCP has for a long time now prioritized work that isn't focused on the spaceships part of the game. There's many issues with the game atm regarding balancing and gameplay, none of that really affects newer players much but it is the core gameplay.
While I applaud what they have done with the new player experience and I like the work they've done on the ship turrets (the icons are crap though) the real truth is that most of what CCP has been working on lately focuses on looks. While looks are cool and important they shouldn't take precedence over game mechanics and game play.
There's so many long standing problems, issues that affect thousands of players in 0.0, that we simply do not tolerate CCP coming up with yet another non-gameplay expansion or update. We're long overdue for some attention to the spaceships part of this spaceships game. ___ Abriael VonRosen lost a crapfit hauler in Rancer, showing he has no clue on EVE and thus his words mean nothing. |

Incursion? Spaceships PVE fleet content with added PVP for low/null. Tyrannis? Spaceships in the same sense mining or trading is. Hauling stuff, planning your industry, PI creations are used for other spaceships stuff like POSes, for example. Dominion? Sov mechanics and fleet stuff. Definitely spaceships.
Define "long time". One expansion cycle?

My issues with it:
1) the tasteless w***ing of the game (fine let there be AUR, but don't put it front and center in bold flashy colors on my wallet. Don't spam me with miniscule amounts thinking you're doing me a favor.)
2) diversion of resources that could be put into making the game better.
That's about it really... I've been against the pathetically bland artistic styles of the new characters from their introduction and the w***e st0re has not improved them even a little. CCP only has the art resources to update 4 ships a year, but they have the art resources to create very very bland space-perv art?
And the big thing:
CCP no longer cares about EVE. They stopped caring probably about half way through developing the Tyrranis expansion after the uproar about issues with the Dominion expansion, and since then only about 10% of their work has been unqualifiably good.

Incursions, that was ok. It's PVE content though and while I don't necessarily oppose PVE there's some quite pressing issues still to be worked at. But it didn't do much for the SPACESHIPS part of the game, did it?
Tyrannis, PI. That's all it was. PI has nothing to do with spaceships, it's just another form of pve/passive income (which we didn't need, there's already too many ways to make solo isk in EVE). PI is the base for DUST, no more. So from a SPACESHIPS point of view, that one failed hard.
Dominion, the old SOV system had issues that needed a lot of TLC and effort. When the current Dominion SOV system was presented every sane person that had any experience with SOV told CCP in very clear ways that it would SUCK. Guess what, CCP did it anyway and, as hilariously sad as it is, the new SOV system is worse than the old one. So from a SPACESHIPS point of view, we went backwards.
Any more? ___ Abriael VonRosen lost a crapfit hauler in Rancer, showing he has no clue on EVE and thus his words mean nothing. |

0/10 needs way more 'no one is forcing you', I'd also suggest you make a vid/animation where you hold a gun to a person's head while screaming 'no one is forcing you!', 'it is totally your choice!' as you push them into a NEX store.
Apologies if someone made that already for EVE is real because I avoid horrible websites that have bathed in the gods of flash BS.

Name one significant way flying spaceships were improved in Incarna. Not new turrets - I never see them unless I zoom my BS in so far it fills the entire screen. Not new turret icons - they're muddy blobs. Etc, etc.
Now why do you think that was, and why I might be mad about Incarna and MT? -- The Door! |

Why is AUR in my wallet, why not have it like LP and just show up in the store?
Maybe number of plex, LP, RP should show up in our wallets?

Aurum is in your wallet because it is a currency. Not to hard to grasp.

Really, did we need another one of these threads? There are a ton already on the first few pages. Couldn't you have picked one of those to post in? ______________________

I guess his point is that why does Aurum, a currency he can't really use for ****, is in his wallet in bright blue type where currency he can actually buy useful game things need to be.
Your condescending tone would also be funnier if you didn't make mediocre attempts to troll the forums.

Telvani apologist or Brit Green stalker? Either way, not very becoming. If you click my portrait you can find (if you haven't already) more recent posts to jump on.
