from http://www.eveisreal.net/#!/about/rules - Limit one (1) entry per person/e-mail address. - Submission of previously published screenshots/videos is prohibited. - No group or team efforts, or multi-author(ed) designs will be accepted in this Contest. - By submitting an Entry, participant hereby warrants and represents that it: ... has not been copied in whole or in part, from any other work - EntrantĘs submitted Entry must incorporate only (i) the scenes that the entrant is actively participating in the EVE Online video game.
Since the only way to upload content, is to add them to contest, all content in eveisreal.net must abide by these rules. I wonder if these is even one image/video which does so ...

Interesting fact is that you can only upload videos which are already published in youtube (since uploading requires youtube URL). But since uploading already published videos is prohibited, there is no allowed way to upload videos.
I made bug report about this, and also mentioned that all current videos in eveisreal.net needs to be disqualified as breaking the rules.

Bumping your own thread due to lack of interest is kind of lame, don't you think?

dude ... I don't know how to break this to you. I don't want you to break down or cry or anything ... but ...
when they mean previously published, they mean "previously published on EVEisreal.net" nothing else.

That is not what rules say. It is said *twice* in rules that entries must not be previously published.

It's just to make sure if someone uses something which is copyrighted and the actual creator/owner knocks on CCP's door when they publish it, CCP can go "Wir haben es nicht gewusst" while pointing at their rules. ___ Abriael VonRosen lost a crapfit hauler in Rancer, showing he has no clue on EVE and thus his words mean nothing. |

What are you actually moaning about, I don't see anything wrong with those rules?

It says that, but it MEANS must not be previously published by someone else, ie not infringing someone elses copyright. It's common sense to understadn it that way, if you don't then you have life issues.

It is somewhat common for competitions to require new entries which have not been previously published anywhere. This is what CCP seems to be saying in rules.
If CCP meant something else, then they chose really bad way to say it.

CCP is accepting entries clearly in violation of these and many other rules.
e.g. "T'amber Anomandari Demaleon" is spamming site with a lot of entries (while only 1 allowed). Many images contain content copied somewhere else. Many videos contain other content than ingame scenes. etc...

One entry per person? I'm a bit more ****ed about that. I thought we could add as much as we wanted. That's kinda lame.

Edited by: Rembraan on 31/07/2011 10:30:43 I assume the "1 entry per person" is directed at the Contest. There is a separate part of the site where contest entries are published. That is what the rules are for. Not for the "Visualizer".
Edit: Never mind, there is only that upload option. Maybe there is a way to mark an entry for the contest and upload others later that we all missed?
Apart from that, the "previously published" part to me clearly means the Contest itself, not Youtube. Otherwise they would have stated that it includes other websites/media.

its kinda hard to follow the rules at all:
- you need to have it published on youtube to submit a video, but the rules say your not allowed to have it published before, rule not working
- most eve related videos use music (yay), however almost all videos rely on fair use, pretty much none has the direct allowance of the musicians behind the music, which violates the rules aswell (and that goes for most videos that are allready on eveisreal...)
