Salvaging, Arheology and Hacking
Does the level of skill in the amount of material obtained or only on the rate of receipt?

From a Salvaging Q/A I found.
Q: Does my salvaging skill increase the chance a wreck could have salvageable materials in it. A: No û it does not seem to matter what your skill level is û you can salvage stuff with level 1.
Q: So what's the point in training past level 1 A: Less time wasted on failed trys û using more then one salvager also lowers time.
No Idea about your other questions though, I haven't done much/any of that.

There ARE access level requirements which will prevent you from salvaging elite wrecks without sufficient skills. You can increase your access level if you don't have the skill trained far enough with the rigs.

I believe it only effects the chance of a successful hack/analyse attempt. However, and this is just my observation and is probably false, but I have noticed that when I have failed to Hack a crate open several times in a row, its usually turns out to be empty. This is probably just bad luck, but it happens to me more often than not.

The contents of the can are determined when the can spawns (CCP has said so). The level of your profession skill determines two things, your odds of opening it on individual cycles (the better your odds, the fewer attempts it will usually take you) and weather or not you can open certain higher level cans. I believe the general consensus is that with 3 levels in a skill, you can open everything.
I personally haven't run into anything I can't open since I had lvl 3 in everything. Level 5 lets you use T2 though, which have even better odds (your base odds the moment you fit a T1 one with one level of the skill is 5%. At 5 levels with T1 it's 25%, with T2 it's 35%).

The correct answer is right HERE after a 30 second Google search: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Salvage.
PLEASE learn to use search engines before wasting our time. Thanks.
- Level 3 Salvage òGrants the ability to salvage Tech II or faction ships - Level 4 Salvage òGrants the ability to salvage Sleeper Battleships - Level 5 Salvage òGrants the ability to use Salvager II.

You need salvaging 4 to salvage from
- Pirate commander wrecks (e.g. Dark Blood, Shadow Serpentis) - Sleepers - Player T2/T3 wrecks
With salvaging 4 and no bonuses it takes forever to salvage a commander wreck.

Also, with Salvaging 4 and a tech I Salvager your chance to salvage from a Large Advanced Sleeper Wreck is 0%. You can put the salvager on it, but it will simply never succeed. With a rig it works just fine tho.
