the basic idea behind hi sec war decs is that concord is corrupt right. how bout if when you are going to be decced you get a call from your friendly concord guy pointing this out and suggesting that for a modest fee ie more money than the other guy is offering he'll fudge the paperwork to keep the war from happening.
then of course the other guy's concord friend points out there is a problem with the paperwork and perhaps a bit more money might smooth the way.
back and forth until the 24 hours is up and the high bidder gets what he wants. of course both parties lose the money bid to that oint. presto a bunch of isk vanishes from the game and at lng last the guy being decced has a shot at stopping the dec before it messes with him. both parties losing theri money should limit abuse of the process.

This isn't the worst idea I've seen here regarding high sec war decs. Sarcasm - Because i'm too far away to strangle you. |

1. Concord isn't corrupt, the purpose of war decs is CCP wants pew pew or maybe someother bull**** reason, I forget. But the bribe thing wouldnt fit in with the EvE backstory
2. This would destroy highsec pvp and mercenary corps.
3. Stop being such a carebear.
4. Eat some cheese :)

The one problem with this is that it would mostly affect "newbie" corps that don't have as much cash to burn. Older, and more well financed, ones tend not to have this issue and can put up large initial bids that cannot be topped. I know of a few people that paid for 2 weeks worth of a war dec against a very large alliance without a second thought to the cost of it (and deccing an alliance is not cheap, 100 million for the first week and 200 for the second). _______________________

Isn't the obvious problem with this that the guy being declared on will wait until 23 hours 59 minutes have elapsed since the war dec and then outbid ebay style? Or he outbids early, then the dec'ing corp waits till 23:59 and does the same thing.
Either way most high sec wars would go ahead or get cancelled based on who managed to bid closest to the close of the auction.
I can envisage a couple of potential solutions to that problem but I can't come up with one that doesn't open several more cans of worms. You could extend the deadline after each bid, but then it can go on indefinitely, get very expensive and add a pretty tedious disincentive to wardec, especially for weaker corps. Or perhaps allow only half the remaining time to make a new bid, so if you don't bid to cancel in the first 12 hours the war is on, but you'd have to combine that with a random element after the 24 hours have elapsed, whereby Concord will declare the war active at a randomly generated time in the 25th hour, could be 1 minute after 24 hours have passed, could be 59, then you can't outbid at the last minute because you don't know when it will be. At the very least you'd always need to have the CEO or a director online to deal with the last minute bidding, so you'd always want to wardec during the other corp's off-peak hours. And I can't think of any solution that wouldn't heavily favour large, rich corporations over smaller, poorer ones.
It's a bit of a skill of mine to be honest, I'm good at seeing problems with things, but not great at finding solutions.
