So I was real excited for Diablo 3, but it seems as if Blizzard is mostly just taking stuff out rather than putting new things in. Theres no LAN support, no talent tree or skillpoints, and no offline single player. What they DID put in was a auction house that uses REAL money. What does everyone else think?

I cared about Diablo III for a couple months when it was first announced, but now i feel like it already came out and the world moved on.

Edited by: Blacksquirrel on 05/08/2011 21:33:22 I like diablo games, but was never really into the MP part of it all. Its from blizzard so there will be polish and it wont be a bad game. I'm just not that excited about it.
The perma online thing doesnt bother me...Thats the way gaming is headed thanks well to us, and piracy. Given the ample free Wifi connections, and I doubt i'll ever be without my own broadband connection not a huge deal. I was hoping for a necromancer class again but oh well.
The skill tree thing makes sense hearing their reasoning.
All in all i'll probably wait for a price drop then pick it up.

Don't hold your breath waiting for a cheap option, even now the best price you can get a copy of Starcraft 2 is $50 or @ ú33.

Although interestingly enough, Torchligh 2, a game from the developers of the first two diablos is going to have all the things diablo 3 won't as well as being 20-30 dollars.

im just kinda burnt out on diablo-esque games, borderlands did it for me the most. cause after you find the best ****, all of the excitement is lost, or it takes a year to find something better. at least with d3 you have the chance to make some real money.

'taking out' skill points isn't really fair. They replaced it with a new system.
Crafting is deeper. Caravans are new. Skill customization is brand new. Followers (mercs) are deeper. Quests are deeper.

Did you play Torchlight? That game was terrible.
The pets path worse then mobs in Diablo1, and the admittedly nice beautiful areas are full of props and widgets that you can't walk through/over, so the game always felt cramped. The skill lists were short. The spells execute sluggishly.
It was yucky. Rather play Titan Quest or D2.

I've praised three different dev teams in this thread and insulted only one game, that one of the dev teams I like made. I don't understand.

I play good games. Torchlight was a good game, I haven't played Titan Quest so I can't give you my opinion about it. Diablo 1 & 2 was okay-ish, too grindy with too much emphasis on loot for my liking.

The skill tree and stat points are removed, but past the kneee-jerk reaction, this is probably a good thing.
In D2, you end up using basically 2 attack skills, the rest are buffs. You put just enough strengh to use the stuff you want to wear, the rest goes to vitality.
In D3, you will have 30 points to invest in passive abilities, but you get all the actives ones, and they scale up with your level. And you can reset your passives.
In short, you won't have to create and level a chain lightning sorc because you're bored with your cookie-cutter ice orb/meteor build. More diversity and no need for rerolling, that can't be a bad change.
I don't approve of their RMT AH, however. That's a blatant invitation to boting. ------------------------------------------

I don't know why people think the real $ AH matters one bit. D2 has a legion of websites selling every item in the game all these years after it's release. The real $ for gear is inevitable for D3.
This is a security upgrade, not a new feature.

Witch doctor has the evil pets patented, too. Probably won't ever be a necro in D3.
