Edited by: Judge Ment on 08/08/2011 03:01:14 I'm not drunk!!
My first few days back I enjoy the 3D image of myself and being able to walk in station, but the lag was so huge on multiple accounts I ended up shutting it off. Thank you willow for giving me such a great idea! Now Im asking the public of EVE ONLINE if they also turn their Station off?

i had them on for when the expansion came out to try it, then after that i turned it off due to the time it takes to load when you enter station and it just added unessisary clicks and wait times.

Dude you don't want answers from someone smoking brownies. They have no idea what they're saying and they don't remember saying it.

tbh, i was kinda freak out seeing my other account half naked walking around shirtless. I cant wait to see my cyno pilot! that is the only reason why I would need to walk in station.. great job ccp for bringing me closer to my girls ------------------------------------- We judge others by actions We judge ourselves by intentions. |

I do on the computer with a quad core processor and 6870 HD Graphics card. On my other computer I use the door to load faster. I don't see the point in using it until they release multiplayer interaction.

It all depends on what I am doing.
If I am running around from station to station then it is off. If I am hanging out a chatting then it is on.
I do agree that CCP should have left or created a option to dock without leaving your ship.

Off within the first hour of day one. Personally have no reason for it. Not because my computer has trouble running multiple clients either. It just doesn't serve any purpose for me to have it on.

I leave it off, for numerous reasons.
First, my computer just plain can't handle the load.
Second, lighting is atrocious (but that may be due to First, above)
Third, character and camera start facing down the hall to the captain's quarters. No intractable part of the 3D environment is available, so I'm always just using the neocom anyway.
Fourth, there are only so many times I can look at the back of my character's head before I want something different to look at (like, say, the ship I'm currently flying).
Fifth, always leaving the pod when docking a ship, even if it is only to hand the trollope-no-longer-in-distress back to her father, before once again heading out to rescue trollope-in-distress-again, is a little immersion-breaking. There is a difference between being "immersed" in the 3D environment versus immersed in the fictional universe.
CCP could get a high conversion rate if they simply turned the camera (and optionally, the character) so that upon docking, we would be looking at our ship. Extra bonus points if we could be looking at it though a transparent display pane upon which was the current fitting of the ship, which we could directly manipulate like an always-on fitting window. Thus it would literally be a fittings window, since it would be a window through which we see the ship and its fittings.
But then I still have to address the First issue.
In the meantime, since only I can prevent forest fires, I turn station interiors off.

I find it slower than the previous station screen and certainly less useful so as an expansion its kind of a non expansion.. all visuals and nothing more.
I realize its a work in progress so I give it a temporary pass for that, but I'm not sure I understand where they are really going with it. I mean right now it seems to be a "walk around aimlessly in station without purpose" expansion.
What exactly is the plan here? What's the goal? And how will it improve the game?

I don't need it on, but I don't have a major issue with having it on. No, I'm not wearing a dress.

Had it on for all of 3 or 4 hours then turned it off, fps kind of sucked for my computer and I found it to really slow me down in what I wanted to do. - [SERVICE] Corp Standings For POS anchoring |

It was neat fir the first day or so, but I have mine turned off as well. Not even an issue of lag, but it just makes doing everything slower in general.

Turned them off after maybe a day or two.
Hilmar wanted to see player actions rather than give credence to his customers written words.
If turning off / disabling his company's flagship expansion features isn't action-oriented enough for his thick skull, there may be little hope for his management of CCP.

I kept it up for a while and quite like the direction, but without anything functionally useful attached to CQ at the moment it just got in the way. CCP showed me the door. And not a very high-res door, at that. Pretty pixelated at 2560x1600.

I would like the graphics in CQ if I could explore far more quickly around the place, CSS running speed would be nice.
Speaking as someone who has experience with 3D modeling a lot of the character models looked like they were done in Pose by an intern.

Edited by: Judge Ment on 08/08/2011 19:34:07 I believe CCP wanted to create a 3d atmosphere because that what so many people wanted. After all we want a meeting room filled with character that we created, so that other people can see. I believe the intention are good! I just don't think EVE is that kinda game. I wished EVE would have focused more on fixing the issues with spaceship *(Spending quality time)* on equal power between each race.
Each race, Each ship type, Each gun need to be fine tune and not just NERF! or taken advice from whines on the forums.
I'd also like to see Caldari ships get a entire new makeup!

I have a 2.8 dual core and a 4850HD and the CQ work fine for me so I have left it on.
I wasn't aware that you could disable it until I saw all this talk about staring at a door and decided to figure out what those people were whining/complaining about.

CCP won't even let me have a full background image. I only get about 45% of one.
Why the hell would I want a captain's quarter?
It is off and always will be.

Turned it on for a few minutes when it first came out. Thought to myself, 'cute'. Wondered why my character keeps scratching himself. Saw there was nothing that I couldn't do more quickly and efficiently with it turned off, so I turned it off. It's been off ever since. |

Edited by: Fulbert on 08/08/2011 20:07:06 I'm having it off Actually the "off" feature is one the finest improvement we got. The door background loading is 2x more faster than the pointless spinning ship preview we once have. It's priceless if you don't care about graphics. ("Graphics? EVE has graphics?... and sounds?). ____________________________________ Fulbert Industrialist - Casual Trader EVE Online, the best browser MMO of them all |
