Edited by: Zenith Intaki on 10/08/2011 19:27:49 I am new character, but I have experience from PVP in this game.
This is a tip for new players.
You can be really usefull to your gang or small fleet in multiple way in t1 frigate.
1) You can fly cheapest t1 frigates, with cheapest t1 mods and tackle hostile ships in combat
2) You can fly ewar t1 frigates with MWD and keep distance to hostiles and cause problems to your hostiles
3) You can fly ewar t1 frigates in split tackler/ewar mode, where you have MWD, scrambler and one ewar module on your ship
Those ships are under 1 million ISK, fitted.
You don't need to fit guns or launchers, since your DPS is really low anyway. Basically day one character can enter PVP this way.
You can replace guns and launchers with salvager and tractor beam, for easy looting.
After you gain skills, you will be able to fly complete combat fitted ships.
You don't have to wait months to be usefull!

Whilst I agree in spirit that you can do the most basic throwaway tackling at even a few weeks of skilling the comment about being useful the first few months are patently false in execution.
There is a reason most competative corps require at least a t2 fit bc or bs in the hanger before they will let you in.
But yeah if useful pvp is considered just running around in a blob of t1 ships and getting slaughtered over and over then ok.

Edited by: Wylee Coyote on 10/08/2011 20:51:48 Read all this years ago on eve-uni's website... But it's a good 'pep talk' non the less.
Also, there's the gate/station guns blowing up new unnaware players that needs mentioning more.

Yeah eve uni is pretty great at this.
But my point is that ppl should not fear of getting into pvp. It's fun, and doesn't cost much if you don't want to.
Those big alliances flying their forced T2 fits are different, this is about the small roaming ops - having fun.
Gate guns kill any frigate class ship.
Many do try pvp by themselves, flying solo and that is wrong way to get into pvp. Get into corporation, fly with others, help them while gaining more skillpoints.

You can learn from flying in small gangs but to say that you learn nothing from solo pvp is woefully short-sighted.
When you are out there solo you are forced to learn everything from common ship fits, scanning down targets, learning the layout of local and it's residents as well as actual combat techniques.
Having a group of people to bounce ideas off and discuss PVP is very helpful, relying on others in order to actually PVP is not.
For most people the ideal situation is one where you do a bit of both solo and small gang combat.

Goonswarm and TEST both build their fleet doctrines around newbie tacklers and uplifting the newbies as soon as possible.
We're kind of successful at it.

will have to say...yeah....you are good at it. While some of your killmails suck ass for isk efficiency...it is kind of cool you haven't adopted the less than 20mil sp don't even bother us mindset.
Hell got you on the map twice. Once to fight bob, and again after your "restructuring" last year (I will be nice, this isn't caod).

I've never denied its fun or good for getting newbs experience and I always encourage new players to just hop in a frigate and try to join an active newbie friendly corp.
Even yours though the entry requirements are a bit odd. =p
But they won't be useful in a competative sense when it comes to taking and holding territory until the can fly the required high skill ships. YAAAARRRR! Where's Buttercup?! |

depends...
an alliance/corp with fleets of rifters to blot out the sun, yeah, won't do well in sov games.
But a nice low sp population helps free up resourses. Got your tackles and scouts well covered, those higher up can run better ships. Focus their training to get that bc next above all else...you have healthy support fleets. HAving done the noob grind from inty to bs...support even if jsut BC's do help out fleets alot and I'd say are ery vital to any op.
Usually first contact with enemy on gates if enemy is jumping in. Also first contact when fc goes in comms "umm...any of you tards popping a cyno....nope....fast support to cyno f'ing now".
Lets some pilots go...cool support covered, guess I'll go bash bs today to not be on an op longer than needed.
Best arrangements I saw ahd the noobs on suport on gates and a bitter vet or 2 to be local eyes and guidance to herd them cats into a more effective crew. Who do help make that sov happen. Lock down them gates, hunt down with a quickness any rogue cynos if possible (or give intel on what dropped in before the big bang).
then when the fleet fight hits...its the lowbies in support who kill fun stuff. Hictors, logis and such. Not worth the bs' time when they have caps and bs' to shoot and hell I never said man...I don't want a nice juicy 190 mil isk hictor killmail lol.

Edited by: Hiroshima Jita on 11/08/2011 07:02:24 I have a noobie alt I just started training a couple weeks ago. I had decided to start it off in the Drake. Its marginally useful right now. Eventually I plan to have it set to do Drake/Rook/Falcon/Tengu. Basically the good Caldari non PVE ships. Heavy Missiles almost hold the race up during pvp. Take those away and Caldari would probably fall over. Anyway, given a week or two more I think I'll probably be pretty happy with it.
I have a real hard time seeing anyone satisfied with less than a month of training in a focused plan. Just T2 fitting a T1 frigate will take a couple weeks.
Ah well. Good luck noobies.
