I am currently training command ships lvl 5. I would like to know for those of you who have trained it to 5 and fly the Nighthawk was the difference large enough to make much difference with that extra 5% to explosion velocity? Or is level 4 where most people stop training it. I dont mind time it takes to train it but if its not going to make much difference I could train something else instead instead of dedicating a month to this one skill. (I plan on flying the NH for pve & pvp) Thanks for any responses/help! :)

I wouldn't bother training it for the NH. I strongly considered training it for my Sleipnir pilot. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

Depends are you planning on using this as your primary ship, if so yeah train it to V. If not don't bother.
I know I don't regret training it to command ships V for my nighthawk. All those little bounuses really add to make this a nice ship to fly in my opinion. Than again I ghost trained it back in the day, so I can't give you a fair comparison of before and after, but I can tell you there was a difference.
But I can tell you it's night and day from when I first jumped into this ship with just good missile support skills and CS III to where I am now max missile skills (for HML and support) and CS V.

You need that skill anyway in order to max out your damage output (Command Ships Skill Bonus: 5% bonus to heavy missile Kinetic damage). As for the explosion velocity bonus, it's not really that helpful. Dunno how it stands for PvE (why use NH in PvE in the first place? ), but in PvP I'd rather have something else. The thing is, you can easily offset this bonus by just one rig - if you really need that velocity/precision. And btw the precision one would be of much better help. ---

This is really the main issue. Even for things like Logistics 5 where everyone swears it's the best time investment you can make, people would say don't bother unless you're actually in a logi a significant portion of the time.

Strictly for a NH I wouldn't necessarily go with CS 5. No, the damage application isn't THAT much better. And the last 5% damage is more or less icing and not critical to ship performance.
Having said that, CS 5 certainly isn't a bad thing to have, and the NH is least dependent on it to make work. The Absolution absolutely needs it with the final double damage bonus, the Sleipnir amounts to the same as long as you're using ACs, and the Astarte needs all the help it can get . Fleet commands' whole schtick is based on the 3% bonus, so it's always worthwhile there. So if you're planning on flying any of the other seven ships controlled by the CS skill, I'd strongly consider taking it to 5. Just for the NH? Maybe not.
