So I have all of the support skills needed for both, I just need to buy the carrier skill book for that race... and I honestly can't decide on either one. Amarr with it's massive tank or Gall with it's nice additional damage and drone bandwidth.
Any corp leaders willing to recommend one? Which are seen most in fleets? Which ones are wanted but not enough available?

Actually I'd rush the archon or aeon. But I can't fly those yet, just an opinion.

Amarr for Triage/Armor RR use, Gallente for flexibility (rep pos and such). Both races have good supercarriers as well.

It really depends if you're going to take it into combat. As far as pvp goes the archon is by far the better choice. Better at pantheon fits, better at living through triage. If you're barely ever going to use it for that though and also are using it for anoms, then the gall line has it's uses.

I've used both extensively and I used to have an Aeon (sold it). If you want to PvP in a carrier, go Amarr. If you want to PvE in a carrier, go Gallente. If you are going straight for SC, either one is good. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. Seems more like the rats are on fire, the ship is on fire, and the sea is full of drunk Russians. - Jacob Etienne |

In almost any PvP circumstance, an Archon will outperform a Thanatos. The 250 DPS fighter difference between them is irrelevant for anything but grinding anoms in sovereignty space, and the superior slot configuration, resist bonus, and capacitor buffer make the Archon the better logistics ship -- which is what carriers really are.
When it comes to supercarriers, the Nyx is tactically superior -- but when you're looking at who gets primaried and what ships are likely to make it off the field, the Aeon is more survivable. And when you're the one that has to replace it...
As a final point, the Thanatos and Nyx are incapable of doing any useful energy transfer. This makes them far more susceptible to energy neutralization. Not a huge point, but definitely preferable to spending your afternoon repping some idiot's POS tower.
