I'm preparing to fit and fly a Tengu to blitz L3 and do full L4 missions (Minmatar/Amarr space mostly). This will be a T2 fit, with only the CNBCS the only faction fit on the ship. On my last mid slot, should I fit an AB or a 2nd invul? The AB makes sense as the Tengu is mostly a sig/speed tank, but I'm thinking it's natural speed may be good enough. The 2nd invul is overkill, but might be handy if I let a webber of two slip through and my speed dies before I have time to kill them. I've seen both concepts used and was interested in feedback from the forum on the issue.

The reason a Tengu is a speed tank is BECAUSE of the afterburner. Look at the fuel catalyst subsystem.
That said, it's hard to get a properly ganky tengu with only T2 modules. T2 shield boosters aren't very efficient, so you lose quite a few slots to capacitor modules. Consider a deadspace small shield booster -- there are a few that are quite affordable.

Get an AB. Not only for easier tanking, but also because it's more fun, and because you can use it to get close enough that npc defenders aren't decreasing your dps. ------------------------------------------

Can i ask why you would ever fit a invulnerability field, let alone a second one for pve (outside of wormholes)???
Always fit an ab. For example if i'm cruising at 200ms or so a guristas torp will do about 19-30 damage. If i have a ab on it does on average 8 damage. So tell me, is it worth it :)?

Use the AB, the second invuln will probably let you do the mission(assuming you have a photon hardener) but you will be alot slower. I don't really see any reason not to put on the burner.

Use an MWD.
Why you say? 2 good reasons, well 1 and a list of nullifications.
1.MWD is alot faster than Afterburner.
2. AB's are superior in every single way for any mission where you take alot of damage that you need to mitigate. You are blitzing level 3's meaning there's next to no damage incoming relative to the tengus tank even using a medium t2 shield booster. However, the AB is still quite useful for moving between gates, moving towards mission objectives etc, especially if you're using the fuel catalyst sub. And that's almost the best part of it, when you're not fitting an AB, you can skip the now useless fuel catalyst and instead fit a grav cap sub meaning you won't only be noticably faster in the missions, you'll also arrive and depart in a much quicker fashion(well you will reach higher velocities midwarp on long warps atleast). While you can dictate range and hence mitigate damage that way, the MWD is mainly offensive and eliminates most of the travel time, the AB is still superior should you need to actually tank damage. This makes the MWD an excellent choice even for a minority of the level 4 missions(such as blockade, damsel in distress and so on). Parrots, commence!

Dont use an MWD, your sig-bloom will get you killed in a majority of missions while the AB will keep you alive. An MWD Tengu is going to not allow you to sig tank at all, while the added speed for "range" is negligible with both HAM and heavy missile fits. Use an AB.

I'd be honestly impressed if you managed to lose a tengu in a level 3 mission even with the slot empty. I'd be even more impressed if you managed to complete missions as quickly with an AB as you do with an MWD for level 3's.
That said, I'm already amazed that you find a 150% modifier negligible, I assume this means you recommend not ever using BCU's or anything of the sort with a measly 22% increase?
To make it more short and compact.. Pros of using an MWD(in level 3 missions): Faster warp times 250% of AB speeds while at the same warp times(215% with slower warps) Slightly higher damage application
Cons: Less superfluous tank Parrots, commence!

So really, how much tank do you REALLY need?
