OK my email says Aug 15th cutoff, site says Aug 18th. It says five days to try new features but requires you to buy two months that come after the five days. This is not a preview or anything, and its definitely not a 'free' situation as you have to pay, more of a 'discount' situation. So its a bit misleading, as I understand I need to pay $20 for two months. Then I get to the t&C section:
Terms and Conditions
Offer ends Thursday, August 18, 2011 After the promotional subscription period of 60 days, your account will renew automatically at the regular subscription rate of $29.90 per month.
So are they charging double the usual cost to make up for the discount? Its supposed to be 14.95/month and this is saying after the promo period is $30/month. So is that a typo? Is there anyway to preview incarna for five days without buying more time so I can make a decision whether to I do want to resub? Thats the point of the five days, right?
Am I missing something?

I get these offers all the time on my old disused alt accounts, and never once have I actually had to buy any game time to make use of the 5 free days. Although then again, I only ever paid for those accounts with PLEX, so that might be it v0v ---------------

They must've changed the offer since Incarna, I used one of those 5 day offers on my alt account a couple months back and got the 5 days free without having to pay anything, it just expired again like normal after the 5 days. Also I've never paid via plex if that matters.
I would just respond to the email if you can and see what they say, I didn't use the website, a GM handled it via email.

From what I have done before... the statement about automatically renewing should then have ", unless you cancel before the 5 days have ended"
I have no clue about the 30 dollar thing.

Unless I'm just failing at reading right now I read it as he needed to pay for the 2 months before he could get the 5 free days, whereas I never had to give any payment info up front, nor did I have to cancel manually, it just ran out.
And the price has to be a typo..

The 5 day offer doesn't require you to pay anything. I've used it before a few times to see what was on some of my old accounts. I thin it may be possible that you have come across a phishing attempt that was badly worded. I would suggest forwarding it to [email protected] just in case so they can take a look at it.
Here is the text from the email I received:
Quote:
Five free days are yours to enjoy when you reactivate and explore the all the new features that have been added since you last played. When you decide to resubscribe after your 5 free days, the reduced price of 19.95 for your first 60 days back will be added to your Account Management options.
And the T&C from our reactivate website:
Quote:
After the promotional subscription period of 30 days, your account will renew automatically at the regular subscription rate of $14.95 per month.

I had the same problem. I think the issue is that as soon as you click the button to get the 5 free days, rather than saying "Yay, you have 5 free days now!" it says "And now, if you want to pay $20, you can get 2 months for a low price!". If you're seeing that page, you may very well have already activated the 5 days. Click on the top-left corner and see if your account is active. |

"explore all the new features that have been added since you last played."
I wonder...
This directed to pre-2009 or so?
//just saying.
Also... I love what you guys have done to your CCP website. Puts EVE right down there at the bottom tab, not top where it belongs since it's the golden egg.
//just saying.

Once you reactivate in THIS offer though you HAVE to supply credit card details or another valid payment method for the reduced 9.95 (in whatever currency CCP thinks earns them most profit) fee, and the button that activates the supposedly free offer says "Pay now" or something like that. To me this latest offer read "You get five free days but you HAVE to pay 9.95 for a month to use it", so in effect you get 35 days for 9.95. Since I wanted to PLEX that account and not give more real money to the monocle makers I declined.
If the offer was like the old ones "Return for five days, then decide if you want to pay and resub" it was VERY badly worded.

I have reactivated 2 of my old unused accounts with this link few days ago. Reactivation for 5 days is free. Account reactivates once you go to the reactivation link and login to your account. You don't need to press another "GET OFFER" button to get free time. You only need to press it if you want to pay your next 30 days with discount.
So please stop writing bull**** here if you even don't understand how this offer works.

Actually I found it very confusing as well. There was no indication that the 5 days had been awarded before you are guided onto the 60-day offer page. Thanks to reading this thread, I went back and tried logging in and it works, but it was very unclear on the reactivation website. I also spotted the same (presumably) typo stating the next month would be 29.90 Euros after the 2-month offer expires.

Actually there is popup green notification bar saying that account have been reactivated. But I agree that it's easy to miss this.

There are a number of problems in this area.
I got an email about x days left for an account I had renewed several days ago.
I opened a petition about getting another account opened, got a rather lame response and when I later got the URI asking for feedback and when I clicked on it, it was an invalid URI.
But yes it seems to be 5 free days and a discounted offer of $20 for two months followed by auto renew of $30 per two months. My guess is the offer is for 5 free days and an optional $10 off a two month renewal.
Or not, it's confusing and could benefit from some editing and QA.

When you receive the 5 day offer the 5 days themselves do not require any payment to be made. If you or anyone else logs in through the offer's link and are presented with a payment page we'd ask that you check the account's status.
The reason for this is that in some cases a person applies the 5 free days, possibly due to double clicking the offer unintentionally, and so the time is added and they reactivate which then causes the offer link to redirect them to a payment page. In the event that someone attempts to use the 5 free days and it asks them to pay without the 5 days ever adding to their account, please file a petition so that we can check the situation accordingly. When we send out an offer for 5 free days of game time the use of those 5 days does not require a payment and in the event that it would ask for payment to give you 5 days, that would be an error.
The 29.90 sounds like a typo in the mail you received. Your account would renew automatically at the normal 14.95 rate unless canceled or the interval changed to 3/6/12 months.

The issue causing that message to incorrectly come up should be cleared up now and allow eligible accounts to use the offer up until the 18th as mentioned on the offer's page: https://secure.eveonline.com/Reactivate/
Anyone who received that "not valid" message on an otherwise valid account should be able to use the offer on the relevant eligible account(s).

The page shows 14.95 when I check it, but that some players are seeing 29.90 for some reason is pretty strange. I've forwarded the thread on so that we can find out what's going on with that display that some of you are seeing.
An account should automatically renew using the 14.95 for 1 month payment, even if you're seeing the 29.90 display.
