How bout a new beginner level capital ship a step or two up from a battle ship. But how bout take them in a more traditional battle vessel direction. Any battle ship during World War 2 had guns of all sizes. Large main guns, meduim guns, and light anti air guns. Why not have a ship smaller then a dreadnaught but with the characteristics of a WW2 Battle ship. Now lets toy around with the slots a bit. Instead of slots being slots make them batterys. Since it's a large ship give it some options like you can have 2 (and a maximum of 2) of your six high slots to small guns or missles, but instead of only getting 2 launchers or guns since this is a large ship make them batteries able to support 4 (rocket, light missle, or any small gun) per slot.
You could use up to 2 high slots towards medium guns or missles, but they only support 2 launchers or guns. For a total of 4 medium weapons.
Your remaining slots go towards battle ship class guns.
But if your fleet needs extra fire power for atttacking a hard target you can fly it as a light dread an equip it with capital weapons, but only 2 since it's smaller then it's bigger brother.

what you are asking for is a capital that requires less than 20mil sp, has no mobility drawbacks to its main capabilities and can **** frigates just as easily as another capital ship. why would anyone use any ships other than super caps and these then? -1

I would like to suggest a modifcation:
It has a single t3 hull subsystem, which affects its bonus and nothing else.
So you can choose to give a bonus to its light weapons, and still fit capital guns for some of your weapons, if you want. Or, you can fit the siege subsystem which allows it to siege to use its capital guns to full effect.
Or the medium weapons, or the large.
Design it to work with mixing and matching gun sizes, but only ever be properly effective with one size.

or it could be a super capital that more then 1 person can pilot. the owner, is the pilot, he controls the reppers and main guns, XL guns ( like a titan) 3 other player can enter the ship and control their own set of weapons 1 for large, medium and small, the pilot can also assign drone control or low/med slot modules for use by another person
pro's a new big ship 4 players in 1 ship might reduce lag one helluva killmail bigger then a titan, bigger is better
con's its a super cap balance CCP wont do it

I genuinely think that an accessible capital is something eve has needed for quite some time. Carriers aren't *that* much when you lose them, at 800mil a pop, but it still hurts, and the first time you cyno yourself into the side of a station, get flung out and then punced before you can recover, you are going to feel bad.
Black ops are too pricy to be an acceptable introduction to jump mechanics either. I think the sweetspot is probably about 300-400mil, same as an orca. It also gives budding capital industrialists something to build other then the orca. When you can only build one thing, the competition is brutal. Add four racial Escort Dreadnaught to the mix, and it would improve the situation on multiple fronts.
So no, I don't think a t3 BS is the right move, it should be a capital.

i think its a step in the right direction. i never understood why a battleship and a titan have the same amount of high slots, i mean, shouldnt cap ships at least ALSO have medium guns to help defend vs smaller then capital ships... by using more then 1 person in the ship it adds a new dynamic. 4 players adds to human error and failures, what if the large gun operator is incompetent, this can seriously hurt the DPS ability of the super cap. maybe alliances with this ship would train their players.

the gunners can eject and it would be an empty ship if he logs off it does the same thing as a titan logging off ( just slower)

uh they remain in an unpiloted ship, they can still shoot but wont have access to the main tank modules or ship bonuses that the pilot would give. that or when they log in they are back in the pod, and warp back where they were, as if the pilot logged out

So from a databasing perspective, who owns the ship then, if its not the pilot?
(It cant be the pilot, because if he owned the ship it would have been removed from the game when he biomassed his character)
