Hey guys i've been wanting to do some solo PvP in 0.0 with a frig with a little more bark to its bite and have been eyeballing the Daredevil. What are it's capabilities/survivability/effectiveness, and is it even worth it? Or should I be looking at getting another fancy frigate for that sort of thing? Any advice would be hot :3.

before climbing into a DD, you should fly a Comet.
and before that you should fly a taranis, and die alot in said taranis.
DD requires quite a good ammount of isk too, since it needs a fed navy web. that web should've been built-in on the ship tbh. ---

If you're using a scram, there's really little to no use of fitting a fed navy web. You're more or less as good or better off with a true sansha/domination or regular fleeting one if using a CN or below scram.
As for the Comet and taranis, you have a point in that there's little to no use flying a daredevil until you know why you want to, this typically means flying the mentioned ships HOWEVER, they're not really flown in even similar ways. Parrots, commence!

well yeah, if using a scram. however the fact that you can get a 90% 14km web (18 overheated) is more than enough to stop quite a good ammount of ships that come by.
and yes, while they aren't flown in similar ways, it's also true that there's a baseline common to them all, progression not being in a linear fashion, throughout the 3 ships, but more of a cumulative addition (and some removal too) of capabilities since many of the basic tactics used by a b-ranis, or even a railranis, will be further refined with the different capabilities of the comet (boost on drones), and receive a further refinement on the daredevil (sacrifice of drone bay for increased direct firepower and stopping power). ---

The daredevil isn't worth flying unless you're good at soloing and don't mind taking a 100mil loss for a frigate that dies as easily as a taranis.
That being said its damage output and webbing ability make it pretty much the best fast dogfighting frigate.

Practice in that order, daredevil for 0.0 doesent need to be MWD for 0.0, its pretty damn fast with a AB.
With an MWD fit you cant fit a nos, if you want a nos you have to either drop to ions or keep the neutrons and switch to a DB web, making it easier to catch kiters.
Also a daredevil without 2 magstabs is worthless imo, 4.5k ehp, 400dps min is the only reason its worthwhile flying.
Dont skip on the ZGS1000 implant.....5% damage for 10mil, I never flew it till I had surgical strike 5, small blaster spec 5, rapid fire 5 and both racial frigates to 5....I played around with the ranis until then, great ship.

Edited by: Marmon Posar Visteen on 14/08/2011 10:26:55 Ok well just to clear things up. I have flown all the sub ships extensively, I solo all the time and am quite good at it. My favorite ship is the taranis :). All I wanted to know is if the Daredevil is the next step or not, and can it actually perform better. Cuz I already have the money for like 6 faction fitted ones. Anyways more opinions welcomed :).

If you have experience with the pre web-nerf Taranis you will love the DD. If you can afford the losses and have experience already then I am surprised you need to ask. Get yourself a couple and go have fun, they are a 'blast'.

Its not really a step "up", its like a step to the left, it isent really an upgrade so to say, it handles different, gets a sig boom and the worse thing of all....its a pirate faction frig, it screams "dont fight me solo" all over it.
It depends, I would choose a daredevil over a Taranis anyday personally...I love the daredevils dps step up

I'd go so far as to say that the DD is probably the best frig in the game. It's damn fast, huge dps, great web bonus, can easily take a Dram, can even do some rail kiting with ease.
Really not much better you can do, unless you really feel the need for twin proulsion.
