Hey y'all... have a couple of noob questions on escalations
When given an escalation to a different system (say low sec)...
1) Do I have a bookmark to the escalation site or do I need to scan it down when arriving in the destination system?
2) I am assuming there is nothing about running an escalation site in low sec that would make it any less dangerous than running a mission in low sec... is that right? That is, takes less than 3 minutes to scan down my ship?
I have only been awarded one escalation and it was into low sec... didn't follow it as was a pretty dangerous system and not a good place to bring an expensive PVE ship.
Thanks!

When recieving an escalation, you will have a message with the bookmark in your journal.

I've never had anything drop on a low-sec escalation that was worth the trouble or risk. Now I just let the lowsec ones expire and delete them out of my journal as needed.

Anyone can shoot themselves in the foot, or the ass, but in this case CCP managed to do both with one shot, which takes real skill.

I just ran an escalation to a 7/10 complex that finished in low sec. Got a bhalg bpc and a 20th tier ope. Is say that's worth the trouble. Risk=reward.

1) The entry listed in the expedition tab of the journal is your bookmark. When in the system, just right click on it and select 'Warp to'.
The character with the location is the only ship able to warp to the location, Fleet warp won't work. Fleet members will have to warp to that character. The location can't be transferred to another character or turned into a bookmark and traded.
The only way to make a transferable bookmark is to actually warp to the location and bookmark the area site beacon and then warp away. Doing this is actually good for being able to set 'warp to range' for Arty fitted ships and also to manage or direct the combat without being swamped.
2) Expedition sites can't be scanned and yes, your ship and drones can be. Also the wrecks can be found with Directional Scanner. The site will stay active until the overseer is destroyed.
There's a couple of different ways to help being a bit safer. Use a cloaked ship and make safe spots, watch local and check Directional scan set at max range at 360 degree with option selected to use current overview settings. Make an overview tab to show Probes, ships and NPC's, that way you can still fight the NPC's and do the Directional Scan for probes at the same time.
There's also the 'Scorched Earth' policy. Basically it's kill a couple of NPC's, destroy their wrecks and then warp back to safe spot, cloak up and wait a bit, repeat. Or the 'Assassination' policy which is warp in to range, cloak and maneuver your ship so you get in range of Overseer, decloak, destroy overseer and then warp out. Warp back in a few minutes to get loot.
Evelopedia has a lot of guides and is always available.
