Apart from the fact that there are no MICROtransactions in Eve Online (every single NEX cosmetic item costs several dollars) the whole idea of having microtransactions mostly relies on having lots of casual gamers that enjoy to spend little amounts every now and then to make their gaming experience more interesting. Whereas the more professional players often enough says "Why pay for silly cosmetics? Im a serious player, I have other things to do!" So although CCP should be interested in having this wide playerbase of casual gamers they do nothing to make the actual game more interesting and fun for them, but instead try to force more people into nullsec and nullsec corporations, eg by removing unscannable ships from the game and cutting general high sec profits (see devblog info)
CCP, wake up, we the casual gamers are a valuable asset of this game, stop forcing us to play the game in a way we dont want to play it.
To help us maybe you could finally solve the problem with suicide ganking in hisec, for instance by not giving out insurance when your ship gets killed by Concord.

HD stream of the fanfest also got you that shirt
The idea behind things costing as much as they do is if you invest that kind of money into your character, you (supposedly) feel a stronger bond with your avatar.

See thats the kind of attitude I cant understand in this game. One might think on a server with hundreds of thousands of active players there might be enough room for everyone and their particular way of enjoying the game, but apperently there is not.

I'm confused, what attitude do you think I harbor?

Oh yeah, sure. As a matter of fact this whole "force people to play in lowsec/nullsec/whatever" movement within CCP doesn't actually exist.
For some players nerfing hisec is something like the holy grail and they perpetuate this idea endlessly (especially within this forum). CCP has despite this never made any serious changes to hisec. In fact it has been buffed again and again over the last few years. Your perspective of victimization is extremely warped. At best you could be concerned that CCP is going to change it's hisec and non-hardcore friendly stance (which trust me isn't going to happen anytime soon).
The new devblog is simply something for the nullbears to thrive on. The idea of hisec getting a nerf further down the line will reinforce their self-perception as "the true eve players". It's simply a cunning ploy to string them along for another few years without actually making any real changes to the status quo. There is no serious hisec nerf coming. Not now, not ever. A 5-yr old would call that bluff.
Consider that when something has written soon on it that usually means in 2-3years. Now what in hell do you think it means when they openly say it's going to be 5+ years? I tell you what: that it will never happen.
Now go back to making much ado about nothing.

I don't really mind casual players(I'm one now). However its when these same casual players complain about how things should be changed/nerfed in order to accommodate them. Sadly most developers listen to them. Now I'm not sure if Eve has seen this yet, but in games like WoW(I know bare with me) raiding was dumbed down since release to accommodate casual players. This is a growing trend in which games are catered more towards these types of players.

Edited by: Thornat on 16/08/2011 10:37:59 Actions speak louder than words, I agree with the above poster. Despite all the talk about what "one day will happen" in high sec, to date the actions in terms of hi sec treatment has been "make it easier, make it more acessible, make it more profitable and make it safer".
These actions say far more about CCP's intentions than their blogs proclaiming in some distant 5+ year future their will be some attempt to make null and lowsec something to strive for.
Getting back on topic.
The problem with the NEX store again, I think I have said this a hundred times now. Its not the prices, its not who its for or why its there. The issue is, or better to say is the question is, what is the NEX stores future going to look like. Are we going to see T4 Ammo available only through microtransactions giving anyone with a wallet an advantage or will it remain a vanity only store. Am I going to be able to buy 5 million skill points for my char for 10 bucks, or will it just be a funny hat to wear.
Personally if its just vanity items I don't care how they price them or what they do with them, its meaningless to the game mechanics and as such doesn't affect me in anyway at all and so it can exist unprotested. I might even one day buy some silly shirt just for ****s and giggles. But if they start adding pay to win equipment on the NEX store, from where I'm standing I will make it my personal mission to grief, gank and raise hell in game exploiting every possible coding blunder until my account gets canceled without mercy, consideration or regret.
To me, adding something like that to this game is like coming over to my house and ****ting in my living room, I will take it personally.
So there you have it. I have faith in CCP and I believe that ultimatly they will do the right thing as far as the NEX store is concerned. But if they don't, I fully intend on making a nusance out of myself.

Edited by: Alex Sinai on 16/08/2011 12:14:39 If that store would be vanity only items it would be totally different and under control of regular markets. Of course items would be destructible too and not like they now. It's already change in mechanics. First indestructible items in EVE. Also before all the Incarna outcry and storm of leaks+NoX CCP had that idea of Ishukone Battleship for RL money. When that storm hit they put the idea into box and pretend it was never existed. No i don't have the link but you can easily find quite a ton of posts just by doing the search. I'm sure that store was built for RMT P2W things but it was put on hold when Incarna wasn't welcomed much and hidden until better times when leaked (totally convinced leak was organized by CCP to probe the grounds) email with RMT ideas incited unsub storm. CCP suddenly woke up and understood they going to loose it all forever if they go ahead with that ***t. So they still try to push it in but by other ways like spamming forums and promising great stuff.
What their idiotic marketing management don't understand that they going to lose it all when first P2W item appear in their store. And they wont recover from that loss. Unsub storm was a warning. And people will calm down only when that NeX store becomes history.
I personally wont fly around and try to incite mayhem on P2W or EVE. I'm already on one month subscription plan so when P2W item appear i will simply hit cancel button and go to other games.
Its easy to see which way CCP decide to go. If they remove NoX from EVE then there will be no P2W. If they keep it P2W coming and it's just a question of time.

You should never say people are forcing you to do something when they are not. Its a terrible accusation, you would be stoned to death for it in may parts of the world.
Seriously though, no one is forcing you to do anything. . Adapt and overcome or become a monkey on an evolution poster.

Converting PLEX into SP is pretty much the same as the current system minus the wait. It's also pretty similar to the character bazaar. The big difference is that people could develop a character that has a name they want and already have an attachment to rather than completely replacing their character with a new one. Of course, it would probably make sense to scale the SP return based on existing SP on the character to prevent someone from buying every skill available without spreading absurd amounts of ISK throughout the economy (or dropping ridiculous amounts of cash in CCP's bank account).

Converting PLEX into SP = End game. EVE Online as we know it will be finished and will not have any distinction or difference from other MMOs on the market which use P2W system. Unsub storm of July will be child's play comparing to biomass and unsub armageddon the moment anything even close to that enters the game. So please, stop offering idiocy and if you don't like the system as it is now go play mindless WoW. You won't be missed.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the current system of purchasing characters is not officially supported? I mean my understanding is when you buy characters that transaction is at your own risk. I have been playing this game for 6 years and I have very rarely met anyone who actually purchased a character. In either case, I don't agree that being able to buy your way into the game in anyway is a good thing, all of it should be banned. You make an account, level them up yourself and thats how you enter the game. Everything else to me is just outright cheating.

Well, it has its own subforum Character Bazaar, with rules you must follow. So seems quite official to me. Also scams in character selling are dealt with harsly, I've heard.

Extremely -- especially if you're a RMTer trying to pawn off the toon... That gets all accounts you own perma-banned, no discussion whatsoever.
As for buying characters -- you're not directly buying the SP per se. You're buying the choices (and time) of the seller... the SP just happens to be what you need, where you need it.
