So i was on my way back to deltole from dodixie, just dropping off some crap lewt, then I land On the deltole gate in aufay and by coincidence another indy blows up right next to me, so I am within cargo transfer range and knowing that concord is dealing with the gankers right now I steal all the loot I can from the other indy wreck and jump into deltole, upon docking at deltole I check what I got and turns out I got about 170 mil in nuclear data cores from a gank that was not mine.
Now who the hell cares about 170 mil, I sell chars for billions, the isk is irrelevant. But this instance got me thinking anyways.
If all EvE online is about is producing tears, ****ing others off and inducing emo rage quits why don't more people do stuff like this?!
For incursions, pop the wreck of the mothership after it dies.
Run around in null sec in a cov ops arty loki and pop wrecks of dead indies and capital ships.
Run around in a bomber and bomb wrecks at camps.
Run around in null sec stealing the faction/deadspace and officer loot from dead caps in a covs ops interdiction nullified T3.
Sit at gates in a cloaked ship and wait for a gank to happen then either pop the indy wreck or steal the loot first.
Observe gates for gank camps then pop the pods of the gankers or gank the gankers first.
Common? Wouldn't this produce MOAR tears!?

Almost a year ago I came out of a gate to see an indy get ganked right beside me. I opened the wreck and found 12 PLEX among the loot. I grabbed them and docked up immediately.
Ever since then I've watched for anything that looks like it might be a gate camp and stolen from the loot when I'm able. I've made a few billion off it (on top of that first PLEX) and attracted just one wardec over it.

Your premise is wrong. EVE Online is not only about producing tears. Many people enjoy running missions, building stuff, exploring, hanging with friends, etc. EVE Online is a big sandbox where people can enjoy playing at all kinds of things. In fact, I'd guess only a small minority enjoys producing tears.

Agree with this. Tears are great, but that's not the point of the game. Situations like you described, are. Eve is about the unlimited possibilities of emergent game play where anything can and will happen in a hostile, unforgiving world. It is a shame that things like this don't happen more often, but that is nobody's fault but the players.

Hate to break it to you but 170M isk is a lot of isk to many players. Probably not to the majority of regular forum users but among the peasants it is. In any case, you're premise is wrong anyways. I've been one of of those ebil flashy red dudes for ages now. I don't think I've ever cared for the tears aspect. At first it was for the excitement of the kills, now it's for the challenge of the hunt more than anything else.

You seem to think anybody really gives a crap about the mothership wreck at Incursions, in highsec anyway. The stuff you usually get is barely more than the site reward per pilot involved. If the fleet gets the loot instead of ninjas, it's simply auctioned and the profit is used for reimbursement fund. Nobody gets a cent, and in a fleet of 80 ships it's pretty pointless to divide it anyway.

maybe because this ISN'T what EvE is actually about, it's just one thing some people like to do. .
