When a player undocks he is unable to be targeted for a while. Is he also invernable to damage? Would using smart bombs on the undocking player sill hurt him?

like gates, you cant be within 2500m of a station (i think its that distance)

Maybe you can test with regular bombs (nullsec only though). I doubt this would work anyway because an undocking player is supposed to be immune to any bullying (including bumps). This is to prevent people playing on pentium 3's and the like to get gank'd while loading.

A couple of years ago I ran level 5 missions in high sec. Of course, that is no longer possible. I had to go into low sec stations to get the missions. I always used a shuttle to fly in to get the mission. One day, a smartbombing BS got my shuttle and my pod as I undocked. Cost me a set of +5's. Don't know if they have changed anything since then, but it certainly used to possible. --- This doesn't even seem to be a regular case of rats fleeing the sinking ship. As said they changed it so you can't activate smartbombs when too close to gates or stations...
I believe it is 5km though and plz note that when talking about stations it's not the actual distance but the distance from the ship to the dock range and not the actual distance. So even with a 7,5km smartbomb you might not be in range due to very large dockrange on most stations. -

If you really want to test this then go somewhere with a kickout station, that will get thme out of docking range and into sb range pretty fast. Non-kickout stations aren't really worth messing with due to the large docking radium. For reference, you can't activate a sb within 5k of a station. On the generic caldari stations, then docking radius is right around ~30km meaning you warp at zero and they undock, they're still 30k away from you.
You can really figure than anything small enough to die from the sb will be able to warp off long before they float into range anyway. Feel free to experiment ofc ;)
