As a newer player, the big screens in the Captains Quarters were interesting, informative and inspirational. They brought the career agents to my attention and set me on my way to the SOE epic arc. But now I've finished with the career agents and no longer need to see the SOE epic arc notification, yet they are still there.
Simply put, like the rest of the Captains Quarters the big screens soon became boring and repetetive.
so, to CCP, is there going to be an option at some point to suppress these notifications that are no longer relevant, it's very much just a reminder that the storyline of the game never progresses, maybe a settings tab similar to that of the overview where you can simply uncheck the boxes for "Career agents" and "Epic arc" if you want.
I can think of a few better uses for the big screens, including EVE trailers, complete with a click for audio option (just put some bass in there to give the impression that it's an EVE tailer at the movies) Corporation recruitment videos, a view of the docking ramp, statistic pages covering a whole range of information, and so on.
Finally, the reason I posted this here as opposed to the features and ideas forum is to encourage others to add to the above list (general discussion) and so to the Players, what would you like to see on the big screens? Are you bored of seeing the non-pertenent information as much as I am or am I just making a big deal out of nothing?
Thanks for reading. |

I'm guessing he is about 14 and typical of the internet generation. For these people a paragraph consisting of more than a 5 word sentence is too difficult to concentrate on.
I agree that the implementation of the space television is very limited in its current form. While I haven't spend more than about 5 minutes standing in quarters, I would have expected much more imagination from the team responsible.
Perhaps in the future things will be different.

You can actually change the vids that play on the screen. However I wouldn't recommend it since it is "technically" against EULA for modifying the client.
But hell if your gonna force me to use CQ, might aswell allow me to watch **** on the screens . At least then it makes it more entertaining.

Do try to keep up, I've been playing less than 15 days and even I have seen that link before.
What the OP wants, is a bit of innovation and more purpose to the objects that surround him. |

I meant it as a good thing. I'm hoping to be able to stream live NFL games into there...

Well, I would really like Youtube support for the big screen, but I don't think this will ever happen.
Also, I'm currently in Gallente space, but I like Caldari ships more. I'd like to have an option to see Caldari ship ads instead of all those Gallente ship ads.

Little pink ponies are never a good thing I think the streaming idea would be good, as would the youtube idea, but CCP may be a little concerned about non EVE material in EVE, afterall the idea of Incarna as I understand it is immersion. Though it should really be left up to the individual player.
Roleplaying and immersion should never be forced on players, but should be available to all, in my opinion that is what makes a good MMO. |

Eh... the ponies have become a positive these days. I don't know... I think for immersion's sake, who doesn't want to come in from a hard day of mining or whatever and kick back on the couch with a cold beer and a good football game? Part of real immersion is letting your character step outside of the Eve universe and have their escapes too.

A view for the docking ramp would be nice. I remember watching a video from youtube that had jita 4-4 timelapsed 1 hour in 10mins or so, nothing really happened but it was addicting to watch people come and go to do their daily routines.

1) Add a 'in character recruitment' category to the eve is real upload stuff 2) Get people to make in-universe corp recruitment vids 3) Stream those videos to the screens 4) ??? 5) Profit!
