Kurama Bingyi I hope you haven't quit yet.
I have played since 2003 in different forms and have seen it all.
I would like to offer you a life line to stay and show to you that good does exist within EvE. I would be willing to help you a great deal if only you get in touch with me in game. I play London GMT time.
Please come and listen to what I have to say before you go.

Originally by: Kurama Bingyi I don't consider myself an avid EVE Online player, but I loved it enough to have stuck with it for the past two years (Well, about six months, total, of playing time with a break in between two three-month periods) because it was, essentially, my Sci-Fi "fix."
I'm quitting because I was scammed. Big time, by an unnamed player claiming to be a part of an unnamed corporation that was "interested" in recruiting me. It seemed legitimate enough - he was a part of the corporation, they had a registration website, and an application process. I was a bit wary, at first, because I didn't want to give a large amount of my ISK as a "Security Deposit," but I wanted to be a part of a corporation to help me in this game, and this guy had - in his profile - that he was a part of one large corporation, that was a part of an even larger alliance.
I told you that story to tell you this - about several months ago, a friend of mine was quitting the game, and so gave me whatever he had left before deleting both of his characters and unsubscribing. I spent most of what he had, and had about 227 million ISK remaining (He gave me a lot, and I had a decent amount just from doing missions and working the market). Now, I asked in the Recruitment chat about a potential corporation that would be willing to take a 10 million SP pilot that wanted to try out PvP - and lo and behold, I get said person from said large corporation asking me to join his. I go through the process, which asked for a security deposit of 150 million ISK. I was a bit wary, at first, because I didn't want to part with my money - but the guy seemed legitimate enough, so I paid him the 150 million ISK and contracted many of my ships (Two Wolf Assault Ships - one for PvE and the other for PvP - a Hyperion Battleship, a Drake Cruiser, and a Gallente T3 Strategic Cruiser. I only had a Tristran remaining for travel.) and he assured me that after this process, I would get transport to the station and I would be contacted again to join.
That was about a month ago. I never heard back from him again, and even though he was a member of the corporation I wanted to join, they later pointed out to me while I was "petitioning" in their channel that I was scammed out of everything I had. I had 70 million ISK to my name, and I lost all of my important ships.
I know what you're going to say, and I don't want to hear it. I was an idiot for believing it, but it drove me right off of the edge. I unsubscribed just a few minutes ago, furious that everything I worked hard on (maybe not so much) was lost. Maybe I'll come back sometime in the future and be smarter about who I interact with, but for now I'm done. Scamming may be a legitimate gameplay mechanic, but because it's happened to me in a big way I just don't feel the desire to be on EVE, anymore.
